Vehicle Description
You're looking at a powerful 1957 Ford Thunderbird in a rare and
correct color. So take some time to look over all the details, but
you know better than to pause too long on this icon.
The trim tag tells us this is wearing its factory-correct code-X
Dusk Rose. It was only available in '57, and it has the kind of
sophisticated glow that adds distinction through elegance. So, it's
exactly the kind of beautiful pastel everyone secretly wishes was
on their first-gen T-bird. This is the product of a later respray,
and today it has the right mix of a good gloss but an overall
finish that lets you drive this without getting nervous. And all
your favorite hallmark elements are still in place in this example.
The form-fitting chrome front bumper, hood scoop, rear fender
skirts, jet-inspired tail lights, sporty rear bumper with
integrated exhaust ports, and so much more that all instantly
inspire nostalgia. It's a true classic, right down to the true wire
wheels. And we bet you're going to love the way the whitewalls
coordinate with the white hardtop with iconic porthole side
windows.
The white hardtop shows you how nicely the color goes with the
pastel paint, and so it's great to also have a creamy white
interior for those days when you open up this classic to the world.
This has terrific classic details, like the door panels with
Thunderbird logos embedded, tuck and roll style inserts on the
seats, and a bright machine-turned insert that flows from the doors
and across the dash. Plus, you like that little details are
working, like the courtesy light and Town & Country AM radio.
The larger D-code "Thunderbird Special" 312 cubic-inch V8 was a
worthwhile option in '57, and so it's nice to still have the
correct displacement under the hood today. The correct Ford red
paint on the block, chrome air cleaner, and special Thunderbird
valve covers all look great in the engine bay. The consignor also
states that there were recent investments in this that really help
make it a strong runner. They include resealing the engine, a new
fuel system, and a rebuilt Holley four-barrel carburetor. It fires
up readily like a classic that wants to hit the road. In fact, part
of the refresh included new suspension components and the power
brake system. And features like the three-speed automatic
transmission, power steering, modern cruising tires, and a supple
ride all keep this T-bird a true boulevard classic.
