full-line brochure ... Ford quality has led all other American
automotive companies. That's based on an average of owner-reported
problems in a series of surveys of '81-'87 models designed and
built in North America. Indeed, Ford trucks have a reputation for
being built tough, solidly engineered, and ready for the task at
hand. And that reputation is backed up with hard data. Ford
F-Series pickups have outsold all competitors for the past nine
years. The point is quality. At Ford, no other issue has higher
priority than the quality of the... trucks we produce. Over the
past several years, we've made significant investments toward that
end. In dollars, yes. But more importantly, we've invested in our
people-we've formed a stronger partnership with our employees
encouraging everyone to pull together with the goal of producing
the right vehicles for today and tomorrow. It's all summed up in
the familiar little credo which has come, year by year, to mean
exactly what Ford Motor Company is all about: Quality is Job 1.
Offered here is a 1988 Ford F350 Super Duty Crew Cab XLT Lariat 2WD
pickup in red-and-white over red. This is a California truck and a
true survivor. Showing 83,294 miles on its odometer, this very
capable pickup has traveled just over 2,500 miles per-year on
average since new. Ready for lots more miles and
who-knows-how-many-more job sites? You bet it is. The exterior
paint shows the effects of the California sun. Fading is present
notably on upward-facing surfaces, primarily the hood and cabin
roof. Clearcoat delamination is also evident on selective body
panels. A tape stripe is present where the red and white colors
meet. There are no major dents or body damage, but there are minor
dents, primarily on the tailgate. (To best assess the quality of
the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up
photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) In addition to
the XLT Lariat top-tier factory trim, the truck has severable
desirable additions including tubular-steel, entry-assist steps,
cab-side assist handles adjacent to all four doors, a Craftsman®
lockable, diamond-plate tool-and-storage box (in the cargo area
immediately behind the cab), dual West-Coast-style side mirrors,
and front, side, and rear-window air deflectors. Chrome bumpers,
grille, bodyside, and window trim have been well-maintained with
some light patina. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are free of
damage, but both headlight and taillight lenses are cloudy from
age. All factory badging is in place, including the blue-oval Ford
grille emblem, EFI front emblem, tailgate F-O-R-D lettering, and
front-fender F350 XLT Lariat emblems. Factory 16-inch steel wheels
(with original full wheel covers) are mounted with GoodYear®
Tracker 235/85 LT radial tires. The truck's red interior has been
extremely well-kept with only minimal signs of age or wear. In
particular, the original patterned red seat-upholstery fabric shows
virtually no wear. Similarly, red cabin carpeting is in excellent
condition due to the use of protective mats. Door panels (with
power-window controls) and the XLT Lariat-badged dashboard-all in
red-show no damage. A multi-function, 2-spoke Ford-branded steering
wheel frames a driver-focused, woodgrain-trimmed, complete
instrument panel (including tachomete
