For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396

The 1969 Chevelle SS 396 is unique among all Super Sports but for one reason: it was the only year the Chevelle SS 396 was available as a post coupe. In all other years, a hardtop and convertible were the only body styles available, but in '69, Chevrolet made the SS 396 an option package for the Chevelle, (previously, the SS 396 was its own model), and allowed it to be ordered on the low-line 300 Deluxe Coupe (with B-pillar).

For consignment, a star of the front cover of fall 2017 Chevelle Magazine, a 1969 Chevelle SS396 is gracing our hallowed muscle car hallways. A bit of extra oomph has been added to this screaming yellow example in that the 396 has been bored over .060 and has a comp cam and rocker rollers. A few other upgrades and original body design, one of my faves for this "it" year car. 1969 man...

Exterior
With its swept back grille featuring dual headlights and SS badging, might as well put a nice polished chromed bumper below. Daytona Yellow bathed straight steel takes over from the angled grille and sweeps rearward. A small cove is formed at the bottom of the back angled chrome trimmed grille and runs the length of the car just above the rocker. Nice wheel well trimmings, badging and a black painted trim spear just below the belt line are seen. The black vinyl top is near perfection and talk about sweeping design, check out that B pillar which is the definition of swept back and front! A nice gently curved rear glass lands on the trunk lid which is flanked n back by angle in sweater tail lamps. Another black trimming runs across the back of the lower trunk line and just below another shiny bumper. Dual exhaust tips peek out from underneath the bumper. 15 inch 5 spoke polished Torque Thrust wheels are wrapped with like new raised white letter BFG Radial T/A's on all 4 corners.

Interior
Inside the black vinyl door panels lead the way to glorious 1969 high back buckets with built in headrests. These chairs sport black shiny vinyl bolsters and black and yellow broadcloth hounds tooth tuck and roll inserts. The back bench is in the same design genre and all seats are nearly perfect and very cool! A clean center console is in, and it also drips late 1960's design which has a glove box/armrest and it sweeps forward thinning out as it dives under the dash. It has black vinyl sides and an aluminum top plate where a Hurst shifter resides. The original dash and steering wheel are in and in the column is an aftermarket tachometer. Black carpeting floods the floors, and there are some embroidered in yellow SS396 badged floor mats in front. A black headliner is above. Also, a shout out to the trunk which is as nice as the interior using black carpeting for the liner and a black rimmed and yellow and black hounds topped spare tire covering is noted.

Drivetrain
Put your shades on as when you flip the hood it's going to be gleaming goodness. Here we see a completely chromed and polished 396ci consignor stated numbers matching V8. It has been bored over .060 and sports a Comp Cam, (.520 lift 230 duration), and roller rockers. There are aftermarket Pro Comp Aluminum heads, FiTech EFI and a Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission on back. On back is a 12-bolt 3.73 posi rear axle and it has a Detroit Locker. Magnaflow provides the piping and mufflers for the exhale.

Undercarriage
A new fuel tank, new exhaust and floor pans and frame that just present near perfect with nary a speck of road dirt! Stainless steel power disc brakes are on all 4's QAI coil overs are on front and Hotchkiss rear springs are now on.

Drive-Ability
Runs as good as it looks, I'd say and I would not be foolish' ya! Fires right up and runs fast, stops on a dime, and handles like it's on rails. All is in fully functioning condition.

All good here in 1969 SS396 land with this restoration and rebuild. This car gets the award for the most gleaming engine at the mall. The interior is really snazzy, and the extra gauges are a nice and welcome addition. This "it" year Chevelle will not last long so get on in!
