Vehicle Description
2006 Ford Mustang Coupe
The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American cars,
distinguished as affordable sporty coupes with long hoods and short
rear decks, and gave rise to competitors such as the Chevrolet
Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin, Chrysler's revamped Plymouth
Barracuda, and the second-generation Dodge Challenger. The Mustang
is also credited for inspiring the designs of coupes such as the
Toyota Celica and Ford Capri, which were imported to the United
States. As of August 2018, over 10 million Mustangs have been
produced in the U.S.
For consignment, a 6-cylinder version of the Mustang with the
optional pony package. This car has added Shelby graphics and Cobra
badging though Shelby did produce the Terlingua models from 2007 to
2009 this is not one of them. This is an S197 chassis vehicle with
an upgraded engine, redone interior, and many bolt ons that make
this one very nice condition 67,911 mile pony.
Exterior
Vista Blue with white decal stripes, hood pins and white Shelby
rocker stripes come together to create the menacing look for this
muscle car. Styling cues can be seen from way back in 1965 with its
grille shape, and rear taillight configuration which have
sequential bulb operation added along with being tinted. A nice
hood scoop fronts blacked out trim around beautiful glass. The rear
window has a set of aircraft aluminum black louvers and dual side
scoops on both the quarter windows and quarter panels give a very
musclecar look. Factory installed fog lights grace the grille along
with an added rear spoiler and clean badging, some factory and some
added look great and are complemented by American Muscle supplied
18" deep dish Bullitt style wheels wrapped with Nitto rubber to
complete the look.
Interior
Pearl white Tuscany leather with black inserts come together to
make up the upholstery for the front buckets and rear 2 plus 2
seats and are looking just great. The driver's bucket is powered,
as are the windows and locks. A very simple dash houses another cue
from 65, in the form of the dual circular embedded instruments
behind the steering wheel, although the 65 version utilized a
horizontal speedometer. A Shaker 500 AM/FM/6 CD player, A/C,
traction control are noted along with an A-pillar mounted boost
gauge, (more on that tidbit shortly). A TCI automatic shifter with
a Hurst T handle sits in a center console that makes its way past
the buckets to the rear 2 plus 2's. Nice black carpet has black
floor mats with GT500 white embroidered snake logos for protection.
Noted are satin aluminum finish door handles, lock pulls, door sill
trim, and cup holder inserts that work nicely to break up the black
plastics.
Drivetrain
A 4.0 Liter V6 with EFI sits between the shock towers. For some
extra kick a X-Charger superchargers has been added along with Ford
Racing 39lb/hr fuel injectors and a K&N cold air intake all
working together to make a consignor stated 325hp. Attached to the
back of this mill is a 5R55S 5-speed automatic transmission which
puts power rearward to an 8.8" 3.31 geared rear.
Undercarriage
Surface rust is noted on the untreated components, but all is
structurally sound including the unibody, rockers and black painted
floors. Power disc brakes are on all 4 corners and they are new.
Independent coil spring suspension is on the front and has new
lowering springs and lower ball joints. A front-end alignment was
also performed to ensure straight driving. The rear suspension is a
4-link design with coil springs. These springs are also new
lowering style units. True dual exhaust has been added courtesy of
a 2008 Mustang Bullitt to help with the exhale.
Drive-Ability
It was chilly on the morning of our test drive, so I was thankful
for the remote start. The car fired right up with the press of the
button and idled with a very unassuming burble while I sipped my
morning chai tea. Once the interior was sufficiently warmed to my
liking, I slipped into the Tuscany leather off to the test track I
went. Here the car performed much like its GT big brothers with
unlimited acceleration, great handling and superb braking. All was
working well during my drive and the upgraded leather seating is
very comfortable, even in a sports car.
A nicely presenting, and powerful running V6 pony in eye catching
Vista Blue and white striping. A beautifully upgraded leather
interior and a recent state inspection along with brakes and
suspension work, for your enjoyment here at Classic Auto Mall.
