Major League Baseball's Ron Roenicke (Manager Milwaukee Brewers,
Boston Red Sox) spent three off-seasons overseeing the complete
restoration of this Corvette Supersonic Blue 1949 Ford hot-rod
Woody. Turning to renowned master restorer Mattson Street Rods and
other elite automotive restoration experts from Southern
California, this vehicle was transformed. Powered by a custom Roush
Performance 347ci Ford Super Stroker V8 engine paired with a
6-speed manual transmission with a 9-inch Currie posi-traction rear
differential with 4.11 gears completes the drivetrain. Additional
features include an upgraded suspension consisting of TCI IFS
Tubular A-arms with coilovers in the front and a 4-link suspension
with coilovers in the rear, including a 1-1/8-inch sway bar, rack &
pinion power steering, a Wilwood Hydro-Boost brake kit with a
Corvette master cylinder, 6 piston calipers and 13-inch drilled and
slotted rotors, all riding on Coys 18- and 20-inch chrome wheels.
This custom Country Squire features woodwork by master craftsman
Ron Heiden, using top-grade maple and several months of painstaking
bending and shaping, the exterior wood panels, center console, arm
rests and gearshift knob are all individual works of art. Custom
leather upholstery, using top-grain cowhide imported from Germany,
was used for the two front seats and the rear bench seat. All
interior fastening hardware and ornaments are stainless steel, and
the rear hatch door is secured with heavy-duty chrome handles.
Additional interior upgrades include a climate-control system with
controls in the center console, Pioneer stereo, GPS, backup camera
and digital display. Driver door, passenger door and rear window
open with the remote key fob.
