Vehicle Description
This Boss 351 R-code is one of 1,806 sold by Ford in 1971, their
lone year of production, and has recently had a nut-and-bolt
restoration completed by Karl Kustoms and Performance in Des
Moines, Iowa. The restoration began with a documented 11,289 actual
mile Boss 351ci and a multi-year search for NOS parts. Much of the
restoration work has been overseen by two Gold Level MCA judges.
The car was repainted in its original blue metallic and silver
factory paint options, featuring a chin and rear spoiler. The
deluxe interior is new in its blue plaid with high-back seats,
Hurst shifter, optional instrumentation group, 8,000 rpm
tachometer, and original Philco AM radio. Karl's premier engine
builder professionally rebuilt the Boss 351ci engine to factory
specs, including the B351 heads, aluminum intake, B351 exhaust
manifolds, solid lifters, correct cam, Autolite model 4300
carburetor, and dual-point distributor. This Boss 351ci engine,
when new, was rated at 330hp and 370 ft/lbs of torque; it now dynos
at 376hp and 374 ft/lbs of torque and has only break-in miles. The
car is equipped with an original four-speed Toploader transmission
and Traction-Lok 9-inch limited-slip differential with 3.91:1
gearing. The Magnum 500s 15-inch wheels are wrapped in new and
correct Firestone Wide Oval polyglas tires as indicated on the
Window Sticker. It has proper assembly line markings, numbering and
ID tags. The attention to detail is outstanding with the desired
outcome to restore a low mile Boss 351 to a condition as if it just
rolled off the assembly line. The car comes with its original Build
Sheet, original Window Sticker, Marti report, dyno sheets, and
thousands of dollars in restoration receipts.
