This 1974 Pontiac Firebird coupe was transformed into a Pro-Touring
custom through the magic of a complete nut-and-bolt rotisserie
restoration. The exterior features PPG Deep Black paint beneath
five coats of clear. Its clean lines were emphasized by shaving the
door handles, smoothing the marker lights, removing the side window
trim and blacking out the front and rear surrounds. Door and trunk
poppers were installed, custom electric adjusters were integrated
into the outside mirrors, and the hood and trunk hinges were
replaced with polished billet-aluminum units. Beneath the
red-accented cowl-induction hood is a 537ci Dart big-block engine
fitted with Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads and custom ceramic-coated
stainless-steel headers and exhaust, cranking 785hp through a
TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission to a 9-inch Moser 3.89 rear end
anchored in place by a Detroit Speed QUADRALink rear suspension
with adjustable coilover shocks. Up front, more Detroit Speed
refinement comes in the form of a complete front subframe with
tubular A-arms, coilover shocks and power rack & pinion steering.
Extra-wide, low-profile BFGoodrich G-Force Radial T/A tires on
18x9-inch front and 18x12-inch rear Billet Specialties aluminum
wheels are kept under control by 4-wheel Baer disc brakes with
6-piston calipers clamping on drilled and slotted rotors. New
AutoMeter carbon-fiber gauges, a Shutt billet aluminum steering
wheel and Cerullo front bucket seats headline the custom interior,
which also incorporates black Ultraleather upholstery, a custom
console and custom door panels with red velour inserts. A Kenwood
stereo system, billet pedals and Vintage Air are also featured, and
a full roll cage ties the front and rear together. 487 miles
restoration completion.
