This nut-and-bolt restoration was complete in 2021 without
compromise. The pickup is black on black with a black leather
interior. The cockpit is accentuated by AutoMeter Prestige silver
and black gauges built into a custom instrument cluster designed to
match the passenger side. The black sport steering wheel along with
the polished TREMEC 5-speed shifter and stereo with Apple CarPlay
and Bluetooth round out the interior. On the exterior of this 1971
GMC, the flat nose of the hood and fenders have been replaced to
give it the sloped nose of the '67 while maintaining the dual
headlights up front. All side markers and trim have been removed.
It is powered by a 350ci engine bored .30 over, beating to life via
a COMP Cams 12-242-2 Xtreme Energy camshaft. Sitting on top of the
short block are Chevrolet 64cc Camel Hump quench chambered heads
with 2.02-inch intake valves. Rounding out the intake system is the
RPM Air-Gap street/strip manifold. Finishing it off is a Holley
Sniper EFI system for optimum performance and reliability.
Providing spark is the Chevrolet Performance HEI Electronic
ignition system. The accessory drive is powered by a March
serpentine pulley system. Cooling is provided by dual electric
fans. Finally, the exhaust gasses are pumped through some Sanderson
shorty headers, allowing for the exhaust to remain unseen within
the channels of the frame. Sitting behind the engine is the TREMEC
TKO 5-speed manual transmission. The transfer of power is managed
via a McLeod clutch, flywheel and throw-out bearing. The core of
the chassis is built from an original C10 frame augmented with
RideTech suspension and air-ride components. Pulling up the rear is
a GM 12-bolt posi-traction rear end with 3.73 gears. The suspension
system is provided by RideTech, and rounding out the corners are
Wilwood drilled and slotted rotors, with 6-piston calipers up front
and 4-piston in the rear, along with a Wilwood aluminum master
cylinder. Keeping it cool is the Resto-Mod Air climate control
system with a custom panel under the dash for the vents. There's a
new fuel tank with filler in the bed, while the stock one has been
kept for appearance. This pickup is riding on fresh Falken rubber
with American Racing classic 20-inch wheels. Has test miles only.
