Vehicle Description
The Gladiator was conceived and designed as a tribute to the
legendary daredevil Evel Knievel by Beau Boeckmann, president of
Galpin Auto Sports, who lists Knievel as one of his childhood
idols. Bold and brave as the late, great American icon for whom
this F-150 Super Crew pickup was conceived, the Gladiator is a
tribute to the very spirit of Evel Knievel, inside and out. It has
red, white and blue leather, custom blue-dyed dash, door panels and
interiors, and a red carbon-fiber dash kit, including steering
wheel, door panels, armrest and cup holders, as well as custom EK
badging. The Gladiator is powered by a 5.4-liter V8 engine upgraded
with a Magna Charger intercooled supercharger, Super Chip
performance chip and gauges, Bell Tech suspension with
high-pressure gas shocks, performance springs, upper and lower
billet grille, and a custom sight and sound package. In June 2002
Galpin Ford had a huge party to unveil the new truck at their
dealership in Los Angeles with nearly 3,500 people attending the
meet and greet to get an autograph or a photo with Knievel. In
addition, Knievel used this event as a platform to announce his
comeback to motorcycle jumping. The Montana owner grew up living in
Butte, MT, with Knievel living only blocks away during the
daredevil's heyday. This truck was part of the successful Snake
River Canyon jump that stunt man Eddy Braun dedicated to Knievel.
This truck has 19,527 actual miles (mileage not indicated on the
