1955 Thunderbird powered by a 292/193hp Y-block V8 engine, fitted
with a single 4-barrel carburetor paired to a 3-speed manual
transmission. The exhaust pipes for the T-bird were integrated into
the rear fascia and above the rear bumper, giving it an
unmistakable Jet-Age look. It is also the recipient of a new
soft-top, rebuilt carburetor, new springs, rear shocks and a
complete 12-volt conversion (including gauges and light bulbs) and
an updated aluminum radiator with a new water pump. Additional
features include Master Guide power steering, power lift windows,
white sidewall tires, wire wheels, exterior rearview mirror, backup
lights and convertible hardtop. The exterior is finished in its
original Golden Rod Yellow, paint code 80653, which was a late
introduction in March 1955. The new interior trim is black and
white, code A/XA, with a distinctive sew pattern on the seats - the
darker-colored bolsters are wrapped around the outboard edge of the
seat cushion and seat back, then it splits the two seating areas in
half down the center. The piping around the pleated inserts matches
the color of the inserts. Optional equipment in this T-bird
includes a factory radio, which comes with the car.
