This Impreza WRX STI is a Japanese-spec, right-hand-drive sedan
titled in Virginia. Imported from Japan in July 2021 by the selling
dealer, it's equipped with a metric instrument cluster, and its
odometer currently shows about 260,300 kilometers, which represents
approximately 161,800 miles.
This STI Version 1 is #055 out of the 100 special edition models
dedicated to Subaru's win at the 1994 Rally Acropolis for the World
Rally Championship.
Factory equipment includes an intercooler water spray system, front
strut brace, STI rear trunk spoiler, cloth upholstery, front bucket
seats, air conditioning, and more as listed below.
Modifications reported by the selling dealer are limited to 16-inch
MIM Speedline wheels, rear mudflaps, an aftermarket shifter, and a
Kenwood head unit.
The original Subaru Impreza WRX STI was launched in 1994
exclusively for the Japanese market. These early STIs started life
as normal WRX models taken off the normal production line to be
brought up to STI-spec by hand. Each WRX STI got a blueprinted
engine with forged internals, an upgraded 5-speed manual
transmission, and STI-specific suspension, among other revisions.
Production was limited to around 100 to 200 cars per month for that
first year, with Subaru dividing each production batch with
numbered serial plates on the driver-side front strut tower.
Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-4 engine, rated at
247 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to all four
