made in Ford?s San Jose, California factory (VIN code R) on October
13, 1966 (code 13K) and was originally sold in the Los Angeles,
California sales territory. This beautiful Mustang Coupe has since
been fully restored, with only around 1,000 miles added to the
odometer since restoration. The restoration was fully documented
with over $10k in receipts. Wearing a 2007 Ford color, Mineral Gray
Metallic, the paint and trim are in excellent order overall. The
car looks like a Dark Taupe to many people. It is striking. The car
also has a full black vinyl roof. The body is straight and solid,
the engine bay is extremely tidy, the trunk is in similar detail
with a full-sized spare tire, literature and other parts, while the
chrome bumpers fit tightly to the body. This Pony rolls on new
Kumho Sense radials, size 195/60R15 at each corner. Each tire is
mounted to a new Vision Legend Series, gunmetal gray, five-spoke
alloy wheel. Under the hood is a rebuilt 302 CID V-8 engine with a
600CFM Holley four-barrel carburetor, solid lifters, a
high-performance cam and an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold.
The engine breathes via newer dual exhausts and is married to a
rebuilt C-4 three-speed automatic transmission (code 6) and backed
by an upgraded new Ford 3.00:1 rear end with posi traction . Driver
convenience features include factory air-conditioning (converted to
R134a refrigerant), power steering and power brakes. The car also
has new black vinyl seats, buckets in front with center console and
a bench in the rear, new matching carpet, a new headliner and new
inner door panels, along with a refreshed dashboard. A three-spoke
rimblow GT steering wheel looks great and there?s a Sony AM/FM
stereo with CD in the center stack with Pioneer speakers.
Competition to this Mustang in 1966 was still confined mostly to
AMC?s Marlin and Plymouth?s Barracuda, though some included
Chevrolet?s Corvair Corsa. This is a fun Mustang to drive and it
would look great at any car show or cruise night. Its paint and
trim offer a stunning contrast and one not likely to be duplicated.
