GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1948 Willys-Overland
Jeepster for your consideration. This Jeepster is powered by a Ford
302ci V8 which is paired with a DANA 3-speed manual transmission
with overdrive. The motor recently received a tune up and a new
slave cylinder was installed. As demonstrated in our overview
video, this Willys is a runner. It fires up, idles smooth, and
pulls hard.
This Jeepster sports a red exterior which is nicely complemented by
a white manual folding soft top. The soft top is surprisingly easy
to raise and lower thus making amazing open top driving experiences
very convenient. It rides on the factory wheels that are fitted
with hubcaps and trim rings. The wheels are wrapped in Goodyear
wide white wall tires which contribute to the classic look of this
sweet Jeepster. Inside the vehicle is grey with red piping
upholstery that shows very well. Other highlights include visors,
locking glove box, two-piece windshield, and cigarette lighter. It
should be noted that the electrical systems on this Jeepster have
been converted to 12V thus making maintenance and repair
simpler.
1948 was the first year for the Willys Jeepster. It was a break
from the norm for Jeep who were now focusing on postwar stateside
sales. They were anticipating that returning GIs would buy them as
they came home from the war. It was to be a sportier version of the
Willys they had fallen in love with while overseas, a new concept
of a sport utility vehicle. Equipped with Go Devil flathead
four-cylinder engine and a Borg Warner Synchromesh three speed with
overdrive, they were zippy and fuel efficient. However, they were
not quite the sales hit Willys had hoped for, and a relatively
small number of units were sold making them evermore rare. Please
call or email with any questions or for additional information.
