horse 396 cubic inch V8 engine verified by the engine stamping and
casting numbers CTX 1970 396 Cubic Inch 350 Horse Chevelle HP
Engine as well as the engine code all painted in the correct
Chevrolet factory orange paint.
The original numbers-matching big-block V8 was called the SS 396,
but the motor actually displaced a larger 402 cubic-inches from the
factory. It has over $8700 in parts when the engine was rebuilt
including factory correct parts on it like the four-barrel
carburetor, intake, cam and kit, correctly decaled factory type
chrome valve covers and air cleaner, power steering and power
brakes with factory front disc brakes, and upgrades like long tube
performance exhaust headers.
The engine bay is highly detailed as is the chassis with the dual
exhaust running out under the rear bumper thru chrome tips on each
side, sway bars front & rear, and the 4-speed Muncie transmission
that runs to a 12-bolt rear end out back.
Add in and the good grip of wide Cooper Cobra Radial GT raised
white letter tires mounted on the factory 5-spoke SS wheels and you
get this big block which is a true driver's machine.
Interior
The black bucket seat with headrest and matching rear seat interior
is mostly original! Everything looks factory correct and just like
it came from the factory back in 1970.
It even has the stock Chevrolet radio in the great black factory
dash housing the optional U14 round gauge package that includes the
very welcomed tachometer, accessory gauge package, chrome 4-speed
shifter in the center console, dual-spoke SS steering wheel,
matching black carpet, door panels, and rear seat.
The result is a Chevelle SS that feels like a time piece as it is
in excellent condition top to bottom. The trunk is also finished in
grey trunk splatter and looks great.
Exterior
Our Chevelle is finished in stunning Red paint flowing over the
cowl induction hood with the black SS stripes, super straight
factory panels, blacked-out grille, rear panel, bulging fenders,
and the fastback hardtop profile.
The chrome bumpers, wheel arch trim, Chevelle and SS badging really
look great and draw people to the car at shows or even gas
stations.
The chassis looks as new too as it should since the whole car has
been redone, except for that original interior.

numbers 396 cubic inch engine, 4-speed, 12-bolt rear end, and an
