This 1958 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible is a beautifully restored
Mopar, clearly benefitting from an extensive frame-off restoration.
Plymouth's Belvedere initially debuted as a standalone model in
1954, replacing the Cranbrook as the top-of-the-line model. By
1958, the Belvedere had a brand-new look compared to the '54
models, having taken on the influences of Virgil Exner's "Forward
Look" design elements. Under the "Forward Look" design program,
Chrysler's products took on a more futuristic, aero-dynamic
appearance and the '58 Belvedere was no exception. From the
impressive front end treatment to the side trim that swept back
into the "Directional Stabilizers" (otherwise known as rear tail
fins), the 1958 Belvedere had a fantastic look from every angle. In
1958, the only convertible available from Plymouth was the
Belvedere Convertible and of all of the Belvedere's produced in
1958, less than 7% were convertible models. This particular '58
Plymouth comes to us from a southern collection were it spent the
past 15+ years. Powering this Belvedere Convertible is the
ever-reliable 318 Cubic Inch V8 with a dual 4 barrel carburetor
setup which pushed out nearly 300 horsepower in its day. Dual
exhaust gives this classic Plymouth convertible a nice throaty
sound. Driving this classic mopar is simple with a dash-mounted
Push-Button TorqueFlite automatic shifter, ensuring that anybody
can take this convertible for a spin around the block. Being that
the Belvedere was the top-of-the-line model for Plymouth back in
1958, many of them (including this one) came loaded with options.
With power front disc brakes, bringing this Belvedere to a stop is
made much easier. With the addition of power steering, getting in
and out of those tight spaces is also much easier and the overall
driving experience is much more enjoyable. The black vinyl power
convertible top is in excellent condition and it goes up and down
with the simple push of a button. The chrome and brightwork around
the exterior of this 58 Belvedere Convertible is stellar. The
exterior on this Belvedere has been beautifully refinished in the
two-tone color combination of Jet Black and Canyon Gold. This '58
Plymouth Convertible rides on 4 wide whitewall radial tires with
full wheelcovers which make for a great looking and wonderful
riding fifties cruiser. The interior on this car is absolutely
stunning! The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in
a gorgeous Black Vinyl with classy Beige Metallic Cloth inserts,
all of which are protected by plastic seat covers in fantastic
shape. The dash, door panels, steering wheel, and black carpeting
are all on superb condition and appear to be in their stock
configurations. The dash is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer,
temperature gauge, gas gauge, rearview mirror, clock and AM radio,
along with oil pressure and amp level indicator lights. Whether
you're an avid wing car collector or you're looking to buy your
first classic car, this 1958 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible would
be an excellent choice. Give us a call today!
