Garage Kept Motors.) The Sweet Spot of Pickup Trucks -DrivingLine
website, July 2020 DrivingLine went on to outline some of their
thinking: The '88-'98 Chevy truck along with its GMC twin represent
a perfect blend of the classic and the modern. From its just-right
size to its subtle styling, the GMT400 trucks have earned a lot of
fans over the decades. One of the things that makes these trucks
special is that they arrived at a time when the pickup began its
rise to the top of the American-vehicle market. If you grew up in
the United States (or Canada) during (those years), it's highly
likely you knew someone who had a Chevy or GMC pickup. They were
everywhere-and their simple styling has stood the test of time. And
the website writers added: Let's not forget those memorable TV ads
with Bob Seger's 'Like a Rock' playing over various scenes of
people working and playing with their Chevys. Offered here is a
highly original 1996 Chevy K 1500, four-wheel-drive, short-bed,
Stepside® pickup in white over burgundy. The pickup's odometer
currently reads 108,686 miles or fewer than 4,400 miles per-year on
average since new. Its two long-term (non-smoker) owners respected
the K1500 and maintained it properly as its excellent current
condition demonstrates. The truck's body is free of damage; there
are no dents or dings. The paint retains excellent gloss across all
body panels. Finishes on the body-color-painted grille and matching
front and rear bumpers are excellent overall with a few minor
scrapes, most notably on the right side of the rear bumper. (To
best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be
sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the
accompanying gallery.) Black rubber protective panels on the cargo
bed's (and rear bumper's) steps are all in place and well-kept. The
cargo bed itself features both a rigid-fabric cover and a black
liner. The bed and cargo-area walls show evidence of use but no
real damage. Badging is limited to the single gold bowtie
front-grille emblem. Body-color-painted mirror caps are damage
free, and side windows feature drip-rail extensions. Tinted cabin
glass and lighting lenses front and rear are clear and free of
cracks. Factory, 5-angled-spoke, 16-inch alloy wheels are free of
curb rash. Cooper® Discovery H/T 265/75 outline-white-letter tires
are mounted. The truck's interior is very clean and well-kept. The
burgundy color theme is easy on the eye. Herringbone-patterned,
stock cloth upholstery covers the bench seat (with center armrest).
The fabric has been well-maintained with very little sign of wear
(mostly on the driver's outside seat bolster and cushion due to
driver entry and exit). In the same way, the cabin's burgundy
carpeting retains near-showroom condition, at least in part due to
protective rubber floor liners. Soft and hard door-panel trim is
similarly well-maintained and free of wear. A 4-spoke, black
steering wheel includes an airbag and Chevrolet branding. It frames
the driver-focused complete instrument cluster (set in black on the
burgundy dashboard) including tachometer and full spectrum of
analog gauges as seen on high-spec Chevy trucks. The stock audio
system also remains mounted. Other options include power windows,
door locks, and air conditioning. The automatic transmission
shifter is column-mounted, while the 4-wheel drive transfer-case's
push-button controls are located on the dash to the immediate ri
