Vehicle Description
1980 Chevrolet Malibu
The "Malibu" nameplate originally was introduced in 1964 as a trim
level for the iconic Chevrolet Chevelle. It was named after Malibu,
California and was primarily marketed in North America however
eventually 8 different generations have been produced globally
including some special edition cars. In 1978, with the arrival of
the fourth generation, Malibu was the bestselling badge in
Chevrolet's line up so the Chevelle was dropped and Malibu became
its own model. This generation was largely downsized from the
previous as many manufacturers started doing in the late 70s/early
80s. In 1983 the Malibu name was dropped briefly until being
reintroduced in 1997. They are still being produced today and with
the Impala/Sonic being discontinued the Malibu remains Chevrolet's
only Sedan offered by them in the United States. This very clean
1980 Chevrolet Malibu coupe is a very nice car that was originally
built in South Carolina. The car has been very well maintained and
barely driven with only 19,790 miles which are believed to be
original. The car wears a light powder Blue paint which is believed
to be the original from 1980. There is a small amount of patina but
overall it is in very good condition for its age. It has its
original chrome front/rear bumpers and grill which have a nice
shine with no pitting. The original stainless trim looks good
throughout as does the glass, lights, etc. It rolls around on its
original painted to match wheels with hubcaps and the tires are in
good shape.
The car really rides and drives well especially considering it is
now reaching over 40 years old. At 13,600 miles (6,190 miles ago)
it had a new crate Vortec 350 motor installed. This nice upgrade
includes a tune port injection system and at the same time the
motor was installed the Automatic transmission was totally rebuilt.
The posi rear end is original and has 3.23 gears. The power
steering, power brakes, and air conditioning system make it a
comfortable driver and all those systems work properly.
The interior is complete in Blue with Dark Blue carpets. It is in
good condition and the headliner has been replaced. It has a split
front bench seat with headrests and 3 point Blue seat belts. The
dash is kept mostly stock with the original gauges, switches, etc.
The dash pad is in good shape with no cracks. There is an under
dash gauge pod in place for oil pressure and temperature. In front
of the driver is a painted to match tilt column with column shift
and a 3 spoke steel steering wheel. The trunk offers plenty of
storage space with Black carpeting and houses the original spare
with jack.
This is a neat classic Chevy that runs very well. With the low
mileage, crate motor, and rebuilt transmission it has a long life
ahead of it.
Take it home for $25,875.00!
