2000 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab
The ads of the day read: 25 Awards. No Tuxedos. No Speeches, and
don't close the trophy case yet! Next to the High Country, the
Silverado is the second highest trim level Chevy trucks have to
offer.
For consignment, a looker and a cooker in the form of a 2000
Chevrolet Silverado extended cab. This worker/ hauler sports a
custom flame paint job, 20-inch wheels, a bed covering, a luxurious
interior, and a 5.3 liter V8 with EFI and a cold air intake. Rock
on...literally!
Exterior
A large centrally located GMC badge leads the way on the grille
which has plenty of chrome and a mixture of steel and neoprene to
form this tall but aero front end. Start the fire with the front of
the truck bathed in orange and then as we go to the bed, Pewter
Gray Metallic takes over as the flames turn to whips of smoke. The
cab is all pewter gray and has tinted windows all around. Straight
rust-free steel is minding its gaps very nicely on the doors and
panels. The bed is covered with a like new black vinyl bed covering
that has a steel frame that folds forward to reveal a steel bed.
This area shows some dirt and dust but is in good condition not
having been overused and abused. On back an integrated tailgate and
bumper which also has the remains of flames and is body matching
not chrome. On the bottom we see an HD trailer hitch. 20 inch
snowflake style polished wheels are wrapped with 275/40ZR20 rubber
from the 44th week of 2018.
Interior
Inside the color motif of gray and orange continues with gray
broadcloth covered panels and an orange panel on the front of the
armrest for the power window and lock toggles and mirror adjuster.
The dash uses that same orange accenting for the front panel which
has a black insert for the gauge cluster and various controls. The
dash top is padded gray and stretches from door to door. In the
center more orange surrounding accenting this time enveloping a
6-inch screen AM/FM/CD Bluetooth radio with display. This screen
also contains a backup cam. The climate controls are just below. As
we move to the large center console some more small storage, more
surrounding orange, and a shift lever panel as well as a storage
glovebox between gray broadcloth buckets with fold down armrests. A
swing of the smaller rear door allows access for the crew who has
seating for 3 on a gray broadcloth bench. Gray carpeting covers the
floors and is fairly clean with some protective mats also in gray
carpeting. The headliner contains another console which is
surrounded in orange and contains overhead lighting, garage door
opener buttons and a small storage for sunglasses. Nicely appointed
and accented for this interior.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is the factory 5.3 liter V8. With EFI and a cold air
intake, it can pump out 285 horses. A 4L60E 4 speed automatic
transmission is on back and for this two-wheel driver, a 10-bolt
3.08 conventional rear axle.
Undercarriage
Looking good with slight surface rust which is very spotty. Extra
fuel tank space, independent front and leaf spring rear suspension
are providing the ride, and power disc braking is on all 4 corners.
Noted clean floor pans and panels throughout, and stainless-steel
mufflers are now mounted on.
Drive-Ability
This has to be one of the hottest crew cabs going, and it proved to
be so by firing right up. Off to the test track where it has great
acceleration, good handling, solid braking and all functions are
working as they should just like its potential occupants.
An interesting color combo with licking flames throughout, and
interior orange accenting, this truck is truly an eye catcher, and
it runs great to boot!
