For Sale: 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme in Jefferson, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

This car has been a life-long WI car.  And you would never know it!  It has always lived within 30 miles of the dealership in Stoughton, WI where it was sold new.  The original lady owner was an employee of the Dealership and she held title for about forty years.

I have to believe that her employment at the Dealership is why the car is so well equipped and so well preserved.  She certainly had knowledge and coaching as to what options to order.  I have a stack of receipts that represents only a small portion of her strict maintenance routine.  I am certain the car was garage-kept, well-maintained, frequently washed and probably only driven during the warm months.  It is just too nice to have been treated any other way.

She ordered this car in Matador Red with a white convertible top and Parchment Interior.  It has the Rocket 350 engine with Rochester four barrel carburetor and dual exhaust, Turbo Hydramatic 350 transmission and an open rear end with 2.56 gearing.  Of course it has power steering and brakes, with the front brakes being disc.  The convertible top is power operated and has the glass rear window.

She ordered the car with Tilt Steering, AM/FM stereo with under-dash 8-track player, Sport Steering wheel, dual outside Sport Mirrors, Tic-toc-Tach, GM floor mats and Soft-Ray tinted glass.  The car was ordered with Super Stock II wheels, which are now painted body color.  This car was also ordered with Courtesy Lamps, Reading Lamp, Chrome door edge guards and Chrome wheel opening moldings.  The car has been undercoated, probably when new.

At some time, an Under-seat Litter Container and Under-seat Tissue Dispenser were added.  I believe they were GM accessories, as there are installation booklets.  I believe the rear spoiler was added when the car was repainted.  It is likely the white mud flaps were added at the same time.

She kept the Original Window Decal, the Original Owner’s Manuals and the Original Protect-O-Plate.  There are two sets of GM keys.  The trunk contains the original jacking equipment and spare wheel and tire.  The lug wrench is properly stowed by two clips to the right of the latch.  This would be correct for a car ordered with Super Stock wheels.

The odometer reads 26,577.  I am certain it has rolled over once.  The upholstery has been replaced, as has the carpet.  The dash is perfect.  The rest of the interior is in excellent condition.  There are even special seat belt holders in this car.

The engine bay is very tidy and correct.  I don’t believe it has ever been detailed, but has always been maintained to a high level.  Even the hose clamps are the proper style and are likely original to this car.  The rubber splash guards are present on the inner fenders and radiator.  It is worthy of being shown at your favorite car show.  The trunk has been upholstered and looks very nice.  Again, it is worthy of being shown at your favorite car show.

The body was repainted at some time.  Likely twenty years ago.  The paint looks great with only a few minor flaws caused by stone chips.  There are no signs of rust or rust repair.  White pin stripes were applied after the respray.

I believe the Convertible Top is original.  It is in great condition.  There are a few areas of discoloration, but nothing unsightly.  The Convertible Boot is very nice.  I am not sure if it is original or not.

The wheels and trim are in excellent condition and are very showy.  They were recently wrapped in Radial 217/75/14 whitewall tires.

All features on this car work properly with exception of the parking brake.  It will not depress.  All lights and gauges work properly, as does the radio and 8-track player.  This goes to tell me how well this car was maintained.

This is a great driving car.  It will easily travel at highway speeds and will be respectable for fuel economy.  It is very attractive and will show well at your favorite Cruise Night or local car show.

This is a very nicely equipped car that has been well maintained.  The woman who owned it wisely utilized her knowledge and influence as a Dealership Employee to order and preserve her Cutlass Supreme Convertible.
