For Sale: 1969 Pontiac Firebird in Dublin, Virginia

Vehicle Description

Condition: “Immaculate” Recently completely built from ground up.

This beautiful Firebird has been restored with minimal body panel or interior pan replacements.  The original build sheet from Pontiac was obtained displaying the car as originally purchased (H.O. 350).

The Car has been rebuilt modeling the 400 Style Firebird with many extra modifications to make this a one-of-a-kind custom car. Below details the car’s build.

 

This car as undergone complete soda blasting to bring it back to a stage 1 surface. The original OEM Subframe has been swapped out for a new modern subframe built by “Checkered Racing”. Giving the car a power rack and pinion, Upper & Lower tubular control arms, 4-wheel disk brakes, and adjustable coil over QA1 shocks. New Gas and break lines throughout. The car has heavy-duty sport leaf springs with custom mounted rear shock members. The rear end is a 10 bolt, 3.08 ring & pinions, limited slip locking differential, with rear disk brakes.

 

This Firebird is painted a brilliant white with a custom painted black with blue pin stripe under serval layers of clear coat. New side glass along with the front and rear glass being new flush mount eliminating the original chrome trim. This 1969 Firebird rolls around on 17” front & 18” rear Foose Legend, Black Milled Rims with the fattest Hankook tire you can house under the rear-end. 

 

The entire car has been fully rewired with using “Painless” wiring and updated to a modern fuse box with room for expansion.

The interior had been updated to LED lights for floor and dome lighting. The dash has been updated with a Dakota Digital instrument cluster, custom LED lighting in Dash, including a customized, LED lighted Pontiac emblem in the dash location. and new std equipment. OEM style tilt steering column with a Grant signature series steering wheel. New door and side panels, carpet, etc.

Custom fiberglass rear deck panel with Rockford Fosgate 6x9 speakers. The front seat is a rare “Order Only” notch back seat with center armrest. The Firebird has a premium sound system featuring an Alpine Head unit w/2 Rockford Fosgate amps (Prime R750-1D & R400-4D) that blasts out the music through the Rockford Fosgate speakers throughout the inside of the car and the (2) 12” Subs mounted inside a custom box in the trunk.

 

This Firebird has a 400ci Power house under the hood. This would be an SBC 400 4-bolt main motor that has been built from the ground up featuring the following.

Engine was been Hot tank cleaned, Magnafluxed, Bored .040, new cam bearing and freeze plugs installed. A .040 blueprint and balanced kit was purchased through Whites Performance & Machine out of Kingsport, TN. This kit included, pistons, rings, crank, all seals and bearings. Also purchased through Whites Performance was WPM Straight plug 64cc-200 runner Alum. Heads for HYD roller/solid flat tappet Cam w/3/8” studs, 1.55 3/8 black alum. roller rockers w/poly locks and guides, Perma Torque head gaskets, Head bolt set, Hardened steel 5/16 x .080 wall pushrods installed with a Comp CAMS (Duration @ .050” Intake 224/230 Exhaust “degrees”, Lobe lift .335” Intake /.340” Exhaust and Lobe separation 110 Degrees) cam. This all getting fed from a high-volume oil pump w/slash guard in a 7qt. oil pan. The Road Demon 750 cfm 4-Barrel double Pump carburetor is feed by an Edelbrock high volume fuel pump and is mounted on a Polished Air gap dual plane high rise intake. The engine is turned over with a 3HP mini starter and the engine is running from a HEI distributor w/65 K coil and 8.5 mm wires.

The belt driven clutch cooling fan has been replaced by a large electric cooling fan. The drive train is a Built TH400 HD automatic Transmission with a 2200-2600 rpm stall torque converter. This is operated by a B&M Hammer Shifter nicely installed inside the car.   

The Exhaust system starts with a set of Hooker super competition Long tube headers, a 2-1/2” Flowmaster cross flow exhaust which gives the car a very low rumble.
