The Rundown
You are viewing a stunning 1965 original Austin Mini Cooper S FIA
historic rally race car. Fully equipped rally Mini with significant
competition history. The Mini was purchased in 2015 via auction
from the Cayman Motor Collection. It was acquired by the museum
right after it finished an off-road rally in England circa 2008. It
was showcased at the museum in the same state that it finished its
last race; with mud all over the undercarriage, engine bay and
trunk.
After approximately 10 years at the museum, the car showed some
signs of rust on the undercarriage, thus, starting in 2016, the car
went through a complete 4-year restoration. It was dismantled and a
complete overhaul of all mechanical systems were done; the motor,
suspension, steering and brakes. The undercarriage and engine bay
were stripped to the metal and repaired and repainted, all
documented in the book we will include with purchase. This was all
done while carefully maintaining its original patina in the
interior and exterior of the car
