Dodge did not jump into the Pony Car fray until Chrysler had
introduced the 3rd generation 'Cuda. That original Dodge Challenger
is a timeless classic and the inspiration for the current version
of the Challenger. This 1970 Challenger R/T has been the
beneficiary of a total restoration completed in 2012. The odometer
mileage of just over 70,500 is believed to be actual. Originally a
Dark Green/Green/White color combination, the Challenger
convertible is now Triple Black. Paint, fit and finish are
excellent throughout and all brightwork including hood pins and
'racing' gas cap are in like-factory condition. The white accent
stripes are correct and well done and a power-assisted convertible
top is virtually flawless. The black vinyl interior looks just like
it would have in 1970. Options include bucket seats, center
console, Rallye Instrumentation Cluster w/tach and an aftermarket
AM/FM/CD sound system w/bluetooth. The Challenger was one of the
most roadworthy of all pony cars of this generation and the
mechanicals of our Challenger are said to be original
numbers-matching. Power is furnished by a 383ci High-Performance
engine (N code). Advertised horsepower was 335bhp, but most MOPAR
folks will tell you that was quite conservative. Our Challenger's
motor was professionally rebuilt in 2016. The block was
tanked/magnafluxed, bored .030, crank polished and all new bearings
were installed. New pistons/rings were fitted along with ARP bolts,
a performance cam kit and oil pump. (This motor sounds very much
like the 383/Road Runner of this era.) The heads received a
complete valve job including tank/magnaflux,
milling, new exhaust seats, bronze valve guides and micro-polished
valve stems. A single four-barrel provides carburation and air is
furnished by a 'Shaker Hood' intake. (There is documentation that
our Challenger was not originally equipped with this feature, but
that it was added to the car. The original hood/components are
included.) The 383 Wedge is backed by the indestructible A-833
4-speed manual gearbox w/Hurst 'Pistol-Grip' shifter (D21 code) and
8.75" SureGrip differential with 3.91:1 gears (A31 code). It is
said that only 138 Challenger R/T convertibles were equipped with
this drivetrain configuration. BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires are
mounted on 15" Magnum 500 wheels and chassis features include power
steering and power disc/drum brakes. This beautiful Dodge
Challenger comes with documentation including photos, receipts and
a digital file of the restoration. This '70 Challenger R/T is a
classic MOPAR - come by and check it out. You will not be
disappointed. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
