Lincoln Town Cars were one of the last of the big boats, a massive
six-passenger luxurycar whose suspension system is designed to
cushion all occupants from the slightest imperfection in the
roadway. Among the leading classic luxobarges was Lincoln?s Town
Car. If you?re looking for a body-on-frame car that values ride
over handling, with a trunk large enough for golfing on Sunday and
business during the week, this might be that car! This locally
owned 1996 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series only has 77,317
original miles and was owned by two local families and always
garaged since new. The Lincoln was sold new at Dick Jones
Lincoln-Mercury in St. Peters Missouri. Built in June 1996 in
Ford?s Wixom, Michigan factory (VIN code Y), this car is dressed in
Opal (code WK). The paint and trim are in overall excellent order,
the body is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy,
the cargo area looks great with a mini spare tire, tire iron and
jumper cables. The body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body.
This large town car rolls on Mirada Sport GTS radials, size
225/60R16 at all four corners. Each one is mounted on a factory
wheel. The tires are in very good shape while the wheels are just
in good, original order. This car rides a 117.4-inch wheelbase.
Under the counterbalanced hood is a 4.6L SOHC V-8 engine breathing
via dual exhausts. The motor is linked to a four-speed automatic
transmission (code 4R70W) with 3.27:1 conventional rear end. Driver
convenience features are long, as expected in this class ?
electronic climate control, power steering, power four-wheel disc
brakes, power locks, power windows, power sideview mirrors, power
front seats plus memory, moonroof, a digital fluorescent instrument
cluster, trip computer, standard alloy wheels, optional interior
wood trim. Also loaded with the optional Touring suspension package
that includes traction assist, power moonroof, JBL sound system and
automatic dimming rearview mirror. Safety equipment includes dual
front airbags, a SecuriCode keyless entry pad, anti-lock brakes and
traction assist. Inside, the car?s Medium Graphite (code D2)
leather interior is in overall excellent original order. The front
and rear benches have held up well, as has the matching carpet and
headliner. A two-spoke steering wheel frames the digital dashboard,
which is framed in real wood trim with additional matching wood
pieces on the inner door panels, the moonroof glass is in good
condition but the power switch is broken. A column-mounted shift
lever and a factory AM/FM stereo complete the interior. After ten
years on the market (nine of them as the Town Car) relatively
unchanged, the Lincoln Town Car was given an extensive redesign
inside and out, being launched on October 5, 1989, as a 1990 model.
In a move to bring a new generation of buyers to the Lincoln brand,
the Town Car adopted a far more contemporary image, bringing it in
line with the Continental and Mark VII. In addition, the Town Car
adopted a new range of safety and luxury features and would mark
the debut of a powertrain that would see usage in a wide variety of
Ford Motor Company vehicles. Following the discontinuation of the
Cadillac Fleetwood by General Motors after 1996, the Lincoln Town
Car became the longest-length regular-production sedan sold in the
United States. In the interest of fuel economy, the Lincoln Town
Car was required to become more aerodynamic (reducing wind noise)
but key parts of its design were integrated into its design, with
its radiator-style grille, chrome trim, and opera windows. In a
major design constraint, the design team was not to make any major
reductions in size to the Town Car, preserving its large interior
and trunk space as key marketing points to buyers. For 1996, the
climate controls were again redesigned while Cartier Designer
Editions featured genuine wood trim on the dashboard and door
panels. Competition to this Lincoln in 1996 included Acura?s 3.5RL,
BMW?s 7-series sedan, Buick?s Park Avenue Ultra, Cadillac?s
Fleetwood, Chrysler?s New Yorker, Jaguar?s Sovereign 4.0,
Mercedes-Benz S320, Mercury?s Grand Marquis LS and Oldsmobile?s
Ninety-Eight. If you?re a fan of big, soft cruisers that glide then
you need to get down to MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to check
this one out for yourself. The Town Car is meant for lap-of-luxury
motoring, the traditional soft, cushy approach to travel. You?ll
arrive as fresh as when you left. VIN: 1LNLM82W3TY731153 This car
is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri.
Current mileage on the odometer shows 77,317 miles. It is sold as
is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt Missouri title.
