Nineteen ninety-five was the final model year for YJ Wranglers. This Jeep is a rarely seen Rio Grande Edition that was only available in 1995. What makes this Jeep even more rare is it?s optional factory air-conditioning, which only 57 Rio Grandes Jeeps were optioned with A/C and only 2,275 Rio Grande Jeeps produced in Pearlstone Metallic paint with full doors! This Jeep has reportedly never been off road and has been one family owned and garaged up until recently and it shows, extra clean! Finished in Light Pearlstone Metallic (code V1), the Jeep?s paint and trim are in very good order. There is a black, easy-folding bikini soft top with half-metal doors, which are all in fine shape and a brand new tan full soft top was just installed. The body is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy and the battery looks good. The black front and rear bumpers look great. This example was made in American Motors Corporation?s Toledo, Ohio Plant No. 2. This Jeep rolls on Cooper Discoverer R/T tires, size 235/75R15 at every corner. Each tire is mounted on a factory chrome wheel. The wheels are in excellent condition while the tires are in very good order. This Jeep rides on a 93.4-inch wheelbase and has a 5,000 GVWR. Under the hood is a 2.5L OHV four-cylinder engine with multipoint fuel injection. This motor is backed up by an Aisin five-speed manual transmission, a New Process 231 two-speed transfer case, Dana 30 U-joints and a 4.10:1 rear end. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power steering and power brakes. Inside, this Jeep features a striking Pueblo-themed interior trim package that still appears in like new condition. This trim was only available in 1995 and was added to spice up the Wrangler ?S? models. A cassette player, rear speaker sound bar, and cloth high-back bucket seats came standard and air conditioning and alloy wheels were all available on this model but only 57 Rio Grandes had AC installed. Red-and-orange ?Rio Grande? decals adorned both rear quarter panels. The front buckets and rear bench seats are in very good order. A three-spoke steering wheel is in satisfactory order while the inner door panels and instrument panel are all in very good order but the windshield is cracked in the right front corner. A floor-mounted shifter is in very good order. A factory AM/FM stereo with cassette deck completes the interior. The Jeep Wrangler YJ was the first generation of Jeep Wrangler four-wheel drive small off-road vehicles, rebadging and succeeding Jeep's CJ series, produced from 1944 to 1986. The first Wrangler (internally ?YJ?) was launched in 1986 and ran through 1995. Although the new Wrangler stood out by its square headlights, its body was a direct evolution of the preceding CJ-7 and rode on the same wheelbase. The Wrangler featured an updated interior, offered more comfort, and improved safety and handling, through a revised chassis that included wider tracks and a slightly lower stance. Competition to this Jeep in 1995 included Chevrolet?s S-10 Blazer, Ford?s Bronco II, GMC?s Jimmy, Kia?s Sportage, Land Rover?s Defender 90, Mitsubishi?s Montero, Nissan?s Pathfinder and Toyota?s 4Runner. If you?re looking for a 4x4 as your daily driver or maybe something to use around town at your winter or summer home, this Jeep Rio Grande may be a candidate.
