This 1967 Mercury Cougar is a great V8-powered classic that also
has some distinctive premium features you want in a Merc -
including air conditioning. The result is a coupe that's very
vintage and also quite distinct.
Even from a distance, you can recognize the quality of the
fundamentals in this coupe. The body panels look crisp; the chrome
is complete and shining; and the hallmark hidden headlight front
end is distinctly sharp. So it knows how to hold up the elegance
you want in an upper-level Mercury. But there's also something more
here. This one loves to have a hint of the classic cruiser
attitude. The bold red paint is an upgrade later in life, and it
has a vibrant finish. Plus, we love how the iconic Keystone Klassic
wheels even have the inserts color-matched for added personal
style. And the full-length pinstriping shows off the best lines in
the profile while also giving you a preview of the interior
color.
The parchment interior looks great against the red exterior, and
you know that because the carpeting is also in a bright red. The
dash, door panels, gauges, steering wheel, and bench seats (with
front armrest) all have a great vintage style. Even the courtesy
lights are working. But there have also been the right investments
in keeping this a great cruiser. You have an auxiliary gauge trio,
tinted windows, and a retro-style AM/FM digital tuner stereo. Even
the factory air conditioning was recharged within the last few
years to keep it blowing cold.
This was born an A-code coupe, and the engine bay really shows off
a sharp-looking and correct presentation of the 289 cubic-inch V8.
It has been rebuilt with documentation and photos. This is a
period-correct block, and yes, just like the Mustangs, A-code means
a powerful car with a four-barrel carb on top. It's a
strong-running powerhouse, and it makes for a great way to enjoy an
easy-cruising Mercury. Power steering, power brakes, and a
three-speed automatic transmission complete a solid driving
package.
The sale comes complete with great paperwork like the owner's
manual, build receipts, maintenance records, and a Marti Report.
This is a true classic with style, power, and comfort from day one.
