Vehicle Description
1994 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
What can be said about the Ford Mustang that already hasn't been.
The original Mustang was based on the Ford Falcon and was marketed
more as a secretary's car then a performance pony. It's surely been
noted that the Mustang, through its various generations and
continuous production, is known worldwide simply by its running
horse. We certainly cannot forget the versions of the Mustang that
Carrol Shelby was cranking out, nor can we forget the racing
history in NHRA, Trans AM and other nefarious late night street
races. Through its many generations, body styles, internal platform
"code names", and special editions the Mustang has persevered.
Thanks to this, today anyone with a little gumption and some
mechanical knowledge can personalize their Mustang any way they
like thanks to huge aftermarket support.
For consignment, a soft top version with a 5.0 Liter engine, yellow
exterior, a white interior and a 4-speed automatic transmission.
This one runs and drives nicely, is a 3 owner car with a clean
CarFax, has low low miles, never hit with original paint, and some
new parts sprinkled in for good measure.
Exterior
Bathed in its consignor stated original Canary Yellow paint and
keeping some of the iconic styling cues seen throughout the models
history are present, one of those being the hockey stick cove. All
panels fit well with good gaps, no dents, and minimal scratching.
Neoprene body-colored bumpers are at the front and rear of this
pony and look just fab. Fog lights, standard on a GT, are present
and recessed into the bottom of the front bumper. A styling change
on the taillights is seen with horizontal bars in Canary Yellow
flush with the rear of the body and stainless exhaust tips are
protruding from below. A black convertible top is showing in canvas
with no tears but notable fading. The top operates electrically and
moves up and down with ease. A snazzy black top boot is included
and looks just right installed when the top is down. Aluminum 16" 5
spoke starfish style wheels are on and are wrapped in 225/55R16
blackwall rubber.
Interior
Original white leather front buckets grace the passenger
compartment and have just the right amount of age wrinkles but no
tearing. A rear 2 plus 2 bench is in back and is also in white
leather. The dual swooped dash, another long-lasting iconic design,
which presents in white and black and melts into a center console
with another curved line and has a pod atop with a LCD clock
within. Original black carpet covers the floors and looks just
great. All these curves and swoops continue on the door panels with
the swoops housing all the power toggles. All original instruments
and all clean as well and in the center of the dash are the AC/heat
dials and a Mach 460 AM/FM/Cassette player.
Drivetrain
Lifting the composite Canary Yellow hood, we are met with a
slightly patinaed engine bay and 5.0 Liter V8. This mill has EFI
and makes an impressive 215hp. On the back is a AODE 4-speed
automatic transmission to help keep cruising rpms low. Way in the
rear is a Ford 8.8" axle containing a 2.73 TracLoc gearset.
Undercarriage
Seen underneath, a rust free structurally sound undercarriage with
independent coil springs upfront, and a 4 link with coil springs on
the rear. Power disc brakes are all around. A clean and factory
installed dual exhaust system with the original mufflers puts a
throaty sound out the back through stainless tips which peek out
the bottom.
Drive-Ability
It's always a pleasure to have an unexpected warm spell in December
so I took advantage of this and went topless...top down on the car
that is. The 5.0 fired right up with the turn of the key once I had
my partner in crime turn off the added alarm system. Putting this
car through paces at the Classic Auto Mall test track was a hoot
and I love top down motoring. All options worked well during my
tenure behind the wheel and thanks to a new A/C compressor I didn't
break a sweat when the local law enforcement witnessed the straight
line acceleration.
Most of these cars were used up and passed on to the younger
generation to drive and modify. This clean Canary Yellow horse
escaped that fate and is sitting in the South corral of our
hallowed halls. Low miles, reliable drivetrain, and a clean CarFax
make this a potentially appreciating asset. Like the ad-men told
you, A free spirit with every car!
