For Sale: 1986 Ford Mustang GT in Durham, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1986 Mustang SCCA Track Car

The current owner of this car has had it for nearly 30 years. He started building her for the track back in the 90's and has made quite the changes.

The interior was removed and full AutoMeter gauges were installed, a SCCA tech certified roll cage, Sparco racing seat, Longacre aluminum steering wheel, wide race mirror, mar resistant/shatter proof Lexan windshield and rear window, the floor was insulated, battery was located to rear along with counter weights, and a fuel cell was installed and plumbed using all Ear'ls hoses and fittings.

The 302/5.0 Liter was gone through and totally rebuilt by Carlquist Competition Engines in Watertown, CT which included , boring out to a 306 ci, 10.5 to 1 pistons, Competition Cams, Edlebrock Performer dual plane manifold, with Holley 600 4 barrel on top, roller rockers, SCCA aluminum heads, headers, 2.5 true dual exhaust w/crossover pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers, K&N air filter, Mallory electronic ignition and remote oil filter set up. Other underhood accents include an SVE 4 core, aluminum radiator, with dual electric fans; Flaming River manual steering rack, Jaz Oil Breather tank and Maximum Motorsports adjustable camber/caster plates and operational cowl induction hood.

The 385 HP from the 306 is routed through a World Class T5 manual transmission and heads back to a 3 link, adjustable, custom track, set up rear suspension, with Strange adjustable shocks, sway bar and standard Mustang 8.8" rear diff., set up with 3.93 gears.

The rest of the suspension/underbody includes full subframe connectors/stiffeners, 26mm sway bar up front, Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks.

All of the 2800 lbs rides on 16x8 92 Mustang wheels, with Hoosier R7 245/45 16 track slicks (only 4 laps old) and is brought to a halt by vented/slotted/drilled rotors, clamped by 2 piston, vented calipers. An extra set of 16x8 wheels is also included.

The car is finished off in a flat black with a Saleen whale tail and owner made flares to fully cover the wheels. Extra steel has been added to the lower rockers and bumpers along with large rubber truck bumperettes.

The car was involved in a crash several years ago and the resulting replacement of the front clip can be seen under the hood and wheel wells.

As he has aged, he recently decided that taking this car out in anger at LimeRock, Thompson, Watkins Glenn, etc was better off left to a slightly younger crowd and he was going to make it streetable. After adding lights and blinkers, he has decided it'll be better off simply being sold off to a new driver who wants to get into SCCA racing with an inexpensive buy in or someone who can use the parts on their own race car.

She runs and drive great and is ready to hit the track and now, even the street if someone wishes to continue that route.

The asking price on her is $5000

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see it in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest.
