Looking for a fun vintage drop top to brighten your day? Are you a
VW Beetle collector with the itch for another one? How about this
1973 Beetle Convertible? Dressed in Saturn Yellow, the car?s paint
and trim are in overall very good order. The car?s bodywork is
straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy, the frunk is
in the same condition. The chrome bumpers are in satisfactory shape
and fit tightly to the body mounts while the black, vinyl folding
top is in good, original order. It reportedly has more than $2,000
worth of recent maintenance and parts. This Bug rolls on radials,
size 165R15 at every corner. Each one is mounted on a steel wheel
topped with a vented chrome wheel cover. The tires are in very good
shape while the wheels are in good, original order. Out back is a
1.6L flat, air-cooled four-cylinder engine with a new carburetor
and mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Inside, the car?s
contrasting black vinyl interior is in overall satisfactory shape,
with its front bucket seats and rear bench. A four-spoke steering
wheel faces the driver but the horn and wipers are inoperable. The
inner door liners and dashboard with VDO gauges are in good,
original shape with no cracks. A floor-mounted shift lever and a
Bowman Starfire XXI AM/FM radio complete the interior. Nineteen
seventy-three models featured significantly enlarged ?elephant
foot? taillamps mounted in reshaped rear fenders. In the engine
bay, the oil-bath air cleaner gave way to a dry element filter and
the generator was replaced with an alternator. The 1302/Super
became the 1303 with a new taller wrap-around windscreen. The
changes to the cowl and windshield resulted in slight redesign of
the front hood. The instrument panel, formerly shared with the
standard Beetle, was all-new and incorporated a raised speedometer
pod, rocker-style switches and side-window defrosters. Competition
to this Beetle in 1973 included American Motors? Gremlin,
Chevrolet?s Vega, Datsun?s B210, Dodge?s Colt, Ford?s Pinto,
Honda?s Civic, Pontiac?s Astre and Toyota?s Corolla. This is a cute
convertible that?s in great shape after almost 40 years. Come by
