Vehicle Description
The sporty stance and sleekness of the paint tell you this 1953
Chevrolet 3100 is something special. And the custom A/C interior,
upgraded suspension, overdrive transmission, and small block V8
power confirm it's the kind of total cruising custom classic you've
always wanted.
This does an expert job of respecting that history while also
delivering a very cool custom appearance. For example, black was
available in 1953, but now it has the unmistakable deep luster of a
modern and professional application. All that gloss is great for
letting the sunlight show off the curvy fenders of the Advance
Design pickup. This extra shine of the paint is aided by the
investment in mirror-like chrome on the bumpers and grille. The
suspension has been lowered and it helps to highlight the more
aggressive tires and bold red rally wheels. And the bed does an
especially nice job of bridging the worlds of new and vintage. You
still get the real lumber on the floor, but it has the kind of
modern smooth gloss you'd expect to be on the floor of a brand new
country home.
If you liked the look of black and red on the outside, then you're
going to love the full two-tone interior. They give you the right
vintage flair with the art deco dash, factory gauges, and two-piece
windshield, but you can really tell the focus here was about
updating this to be a comfortable cruiser. The upholstery is a
tasteful black with red inserts and piping. And the individual
buckets are vastly more comfortable than anything you originally
got in a 1950s pickup. There's also an armrest center console, cup
holders, and cold-blowing air conditioning for modern convenience.
The driver is also specifically upgraded for a better experience
with a wood-rimmed sports steering wheel, a tilt column, and a tall
Lokar shifter.
Lift the hood to see a healthy upgrade in power. This vintage 3100
is now running a 350 cubic-inch small block. This V8 has been
further upgraded with the right pieces, like an Edelbrock
four-barrel carburetor and an aluminum radiator. as you look at the
undercarriage, you'll immediately spot the Mustang II-style front
end with tubular A-arms and front disc brakes. If this sounds like
a truck you're going to enjoy driving, then you'll also like all
the other road-ready upgrades like the power steering, power
brakes, wide Cooper Cobra tires, and a 700R4 four-speed automatic
transmission with highway-friendly overdrive.
