Vehicle Description
1956 Ford F-100 Big Window Pickup
This beautiful 1956 Ford F-100 has that big rear window and was
professionally redone to take it to a whole other level. How do you
take the classic stylings of the '56 Ford and make it a high end
one of a kind custom with modern performance? Well you take it to
Bodie Stroud Industries. BSI is based in California and the
owner/builder Bodie made is television debut in 2004 after
appearing on Jesse James's Discovery Channel hit "Monster Garage."
He would later go on to win the Ford Design Award and "Best of Show
at Sema" with a Ford Starliner. He made multile TV appearance on
various shows like "Jay Leno's Garage", "Rock My RV", and of course
"Hot Rod TV" which highlighted....you guessed it, a custom 1956
Ford Pickup Truck. He has been highlighted in many magazines for
various builds and his Pickups were a topic in a recent Motor Trend
article where he stated "When most people think about classic
trucks, what comes to mind is usually the 1956 F-100, it's one of
the most timeless designs of all time." Due to his love of these
trucks he dreamt of a classic Pickup with modern performance and
comfort you would find in a brand new sport truck.
If we haven't convinced you that the beautiful F-100 you see here
had a qualified builder than nothing ever will. BSI has proven to
be one of the top, if not the top builders of these classic trucks.
This '56 is truly a masterpiece with everything being extremely
well done and not a single bolt left untouched. It has been
appraised for $192,000 and received the top rating of "excellent"
across the board. This truck was completely disassembled in order
to hide top of the line modern features under the already great
looking exterior. The paint is an extremely slick bright Red paint
that looks just as good as it did the day it was finished. The all
steel body was smoothed and filled removing all emblems and they
also took it a step further to add hidden door hinges and smooth
the tailgate to complete the sleek looking exterior. They even
relocated the custom stainless steel gas tank (with electric fuel
pump and custom fuel filter system) to below the bed. This
eliminates the external filler and you know fill it up through a
nicely tucked away chrome filler. Speaking of the bed, nothing says
classic truck like a nice wood bed. This was has been completed in
with a very nice Oak floor with stainless runners and is absolutely
beautiful. It has also been tubbed with the smooth inner fenders
being painted to match. All of the glass including that rare big
rear window and antiglare windshield is in great condition with
zero issues and all custom tinted. It has a nice chrome front grill
and chrome front bumper but in back the bumper was removed and a
custom roll pan fabricated. Other very cleanly laid out exterior
features include the frenched rear lights, halogen headlights,
stock turn signals, chrome windshield wipers, chrome side mirrors
and custom tailgate hardware. The truck has a great looking stance
and rides on nicely shining Boze polished aluminum wheels with
Mickey Thompson tires.
If you thought Bodie was the only notable name involved in the
build then take a look online at QMP racing. What originally
started as a garage engine building operation quickly exploded into
a full blown Racing motor machine shop. These guys have been doing
this work professionally for years and have many motors being used
by big names in the automotive and boat racing world. The balanced
and blueprinted 351 ci Windsor motor was fully built top to bottom
by them. It features a smoothed & painted to match block, aluminum
heads, polished aluminum water pump, Holley 850 cfm carburetor,
Edelbrock aluminum intake, polished billet pulleys with serpentine
belt, chrome Powermaster alternator, polished Sanden AC compressor,
MSD plug wires, MSD distributor, MSD ignition, MSD blaster coil, a
custom power steering reservoir, chrome breathers, all polished
aluminum brackets, custom motor mounts, polished stainless lines,
and braided lines. With a look like this truck has you know it has
the motor to back it up and this thing provides plenty of power.
Plus it is all Ford which is nice to see in a world where many
would have just got the simpler crate 350 Chevy route. The truck
has a front tilt hood with a chrome No Limit latch and polished
aluminum cantilever hood hinges. It opens up to reveal a motor that
is like a work of art. It is topped with a chrome air cleaner and
QMP left their mark with custom made QMP valve covers. Everything
under the hood is very cleanly done with custom smooth inner
fenders, smoothed/filled firewall, and a custom radiator mount for
the custom polished aluminum radiator and custom aluminum fan
shroud.
Take a peak under the truck and you will see the undercarriage
received the same treatment. It is sitting on a custom BSI
fabricated frame (with custom rear sub frame) and everything is
either chromed, polished, or painted to match the body. Mated to
the engine is a Monster transmissions built 3 speed automatic with
a shift kit which is synced to the motor and uses frame mounted
transmission cooler.
We aren't done yet because it is time to bring another big name
into the mix. With a vehicle of this status you can't just throw
some vinyl inside and call it done. So it was taken to the high end
upholstery shop known as Bill Dunn's One Stop Shop in Huntington
Beach.
