Why This Car Is Special
If you want a "one-of-a-kind Corvette, one that no-one else has or
can ever have, then we have a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette LS5 454 cubic
inch Corvette here at Skyway Classics that you must have for your
collection.
This LS5 Corvette has been the subject of many magazine articles
including Corvette Fever, Super Chevy, and more, and was included
in Jerry Heasley's "Corvette Masterpieces" hardcover book too.
It has quite a story behind this special Corvette as it is the only
one in the world that Elfie Duntov picked to honor her husband,
Zora, at the 1997 National Corvette Museum Show in Bowling Green,
Ky.
The Corvette was presented with the Duntov Award at the awards
ceremony signed by Elfie Duntov, Tommy Morrison, Jim Minnick,
Reeves Callaway, John Cafaro, and Dave McClellan.
The National Corvette Museum asked to have the Corvette displayed
in the museum and it was for a year in 1997-1998.
It has been owned by a number of Corvette Collectors through the
years and has recently gone a frame off restoration to NCRS specs
with every nut and bolt correct and is probably one of if not the
finest 1971 Corvettes on the planet.

Mechanical
Our 1971 Corvette Stingray we have here at Skyway Classics has the
matching-numbers LS5 454 cubic inch V8 Big Block engine, which is
the original numbers matching one it was born with and a Turbo 400
Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission. The engine was rated as 365
horsepower at 4800 rpm.
When you are looking at the engine you cannot help to notice how it
looks just like it did the day it was built. It has the correct
valve covers, spark plug wires, hoses, factory numbered correct
carb and intake, cast iron factory exhaust headers, ignition
shielding, air conditioning, tower clamps, color stripped hoses, in
other words, everything to NCRS standards and all sitting in a like
new restored, painted and detailed correct engine compartment.
It looks and sounds as it did from the factory and rides on the
factory Rally wheels with chrome trim rings and center caps with
two sets of white sidewall tires with one set for judging being the
period correct original tires it would have came with.
The dual exhaust system sounds great and rides on the restored
chassis with disk brakes, posi, and the fully-independent sports
suspension making it ride and tracks well.
Interior
The restored interior looks just the same as new too with black
leather bucket seats, black console, black carpet, seat belts, and
door panels.
This Corvette was well optioned with air conditioning, Power
Windows, both a Convertible and a correct yellow painted to match
hardtop, Audio Alarm System, AM-FM Stereo Pushbutton Radio,
fiber-optic bulb indicators in the console, automatic shifter in
the center console, factory Corvette steering wheel, dual pod
speedometer/tachometer with a full gauge package, and more.
Exterior
Our 1971 Corvette comes painted in the stunning bright shade of the
correct color it was born with in 1971, called Sunflower Yellow
that had just been painted as it had been completed on the frame
off restored Corvette.
Every body panel has been painted to NCRS specs as well as the
chassis and it does look as nice as possible. It still only shows a
little over 50,000 mile on the ticker.
It looks great from all angles with its long, raised 454 hood,
great chrome and trim, shark-like front bumper, two-piece rear
bumper, rocker panels, window trim, and fender grilles.
