Vehicle Description
This 1970 Chevrolet El Camino 454 SS Tribute gets it right. After
all, you have an iconic classic in a terrific color combo, a
comfortable leather interior, an upgraded suspension, an overdrive
transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, and serious big block power
under the hood. It makes a terrific total package that you'll find
irresistible.
The appeal of this El Camino is as clear as black and
white...literally. This was upgraded to Olympic White paint later
in life, and the good luster continues to give proper shine in the
sunlight. But what really sets it off is the full black package
that gives this timeless appeal. The black racing stripes are
painted on to give a nice contrast as they join the blackout grille
and rear panel to give this a sporty look. There are even tinted
windows and a thick black bed mat to go with this stylish high
contrast package. This darkness adds to the aggression that's
established by the cowl induction hood, hood pins, SS badging, and
large dual exhaust tips. Bright chrome bumpers, complete trim, and
crystal clear headlights give this a premium feel. And the idea of
upper-class shine and muscle car aggression come together perfectly
on the 20-inch polished alloys.
We love it when the exterior accent color is a preview of the
interior color, and you can see this has been upgraded to be a more
enjoyable classic. The bucket seats are modern units borrowed from
a Cadillac, and so of course, they are finished in supple leather.
They are power-adjustable, so you and your passenger can find the
ideal individual comfort position. Plus, you get an Alpine
AM/FM/CD/DVD head unit that includes Bluetooth and a full upgraded
subwoofer speaker system. There are even the beginning provisions
for air conditioning (you will need a compressor and other
components to get it blowing cold.) And to keep this a
driver-focused classic, you have the sports steering wheel on a
tilt column, a center console with horseshoe shifter, and a bold
white-faced auxiliary gauge cluster under the dash.
Under the hood is a true beast. They made sure it's always ready to
show off thanks to a tidy setup and plenty of polished components -
including billet hinges. But what you'll really love is all the
substance behind the style. It's a 454 cubic-inch big block bored
.030 over to 461ci total. And while that's a monster displacement,
the motor was enhanced further with a Demon four-barrel carburetor,
an upgraded intake, and long tube headers that feed into dual
exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. As you look underneath, you're
going to spot suspension upgrades, like the CPP front upper control
arms, newer bushings, boxed rear control arms, and sway bars front
& rear. The upgrade to the 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission
not only means better ratios and overdrive, but it's also famous
for its stout construction. And this feeds the Currie Ford 9-inch
limited-slip rear. You also have the convenience of power steering,
modern performance tires, and four-wheel power disc brakes.

features just right. So if you want an icon with all the best
