Vehicle Description
Take some extra time looking over this 1955 Ford Thunderbird.
Because while it has the iconic lines you love, this classic also
has a full custom restomod appearance. It includes a slick blackout
style, a leather-lined A/C interior, five-speed transmission,
upgraded sports suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and powerful
custom V8 under the hood.
The '55 Thunderbird was already a sporty-looking machine. The hood
scoop, faux fender vents, and afterburner-style taillights are all
part of a package that made this two-seater look like quite a fast
Ford. But where the pastels in the original color palette gave it a
cruiser vibe, you can clearly see they went in a different
direction here. The black has a sleekness that tells you there was
a big investment in a modern application. It's not just the body
that has been upgraded. The bumpers, light bezels, and main trim
(including the windshield) have been painted black to match the
car. So it adds to the distinctly sporty style, and it adds extra
emphasis to the remaining brightwork in places like the grille and
hood scoop. So your eye is also really drawn to upgrades like the
crystal clear headlights and 18-inch Budnik alloys. And while
little details like the red pinstripe hash marks confirm that this
is a detail-oriented special car, we bet you already understood how
special it is from the moment this unique T-bird came into
view.
This may be an upgraded car, but it still keeps the best first-gen
Thunderbird tradition of offering you both a folding soft top and a
removable hardtop. They are both done in black so that it continues
this car's mean style. But a car like this was meant to be open to
the world. So they made sure the full interior was a full custom
setup that continued the midnight attitude. Supple leather seats,
nice door panels, plush carpeting, and a smooth dash are all about
a feeling of quality. This remains a luxury cruiser for modern
times with an AM/FM/CD stereo and cold-blowing air conditioning.
Even with these improvements, you still get classic elements like
the Plexiglas speedometer and the machine-turned dash panel that
flows across the dash and onto the doors. These are sporty pieces
that go nicely with the upgraded sports steering wheel on a tilt
column and well-integrated new auxiliary readouts. Those get you
ready for something special under the hood.
While the Thunderbirds were famous for V8 power, these first-gen
cars left production before the horsepower wars really heated up.
This one rectifies that with Ford's mighty 351 cubic-inch V8. This
powerhouse is a full custom build that was balanced and
blueprinted. It was also enhanced and fortified with aluminum
Heads, a competition cam, Holley four-barrel carburetor, an
Edelbrock intake, and Sanderson headers. The clean and fresh style
lets you see all the best in supporting components, like the
serpentine belt system, MSD ignition, steel braided lines, and Ron
Davis Racing radiator. This one fires up with plenty of gusto as
the Flowmaster mufflers give you a great V8 tune. But for those
times when you want this blackout T-Bird to be a bird of prey, the
electric cutouts really lets this Thunderbird bring the thunder.
The Tremec five-speed manual transmission gives you firm control
over the full power package. And speaking of control, you have a
Heidt Super Ride front suspension, a Currie 9-inch rear, and a
large Baer four-wheel power disc brakes kit.
Complete with build receipts, this one takes the iconic look you
love and gives it plenty of added power, comfort, and distinction.
