Vehicle Description
1998 Lincoln Town Car Cartier
The Lincoln Town Car is a model line of full-size luxury sedans
that were marketed by the Lincoln division of the Ford Motor
Company. Deriving its name from a limousine body style, Lincoln
marketed the Town Car from 1981 to 2011, with the nameplate
previously serving as the flagship trim of the Continental.
Produced across three generations for 30 model years, the Town Car
served as the flagship sedan of Ford Motor Company, marketed
directly against the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. From 1983 to its
2011 discontinuation, the Town Car was the longest car produced by
Ford worldwide, becoming the longest mass-produced car sold in
North America from 1997 to 2011.
For consignment an original 1998 Lincoln Town Car Cartier. This
curved shaped re-designed vehicle was a change from the previous
model year with its straight edge design. Rectangles became ovals
and this styling cue is carried through the entire car. Higher
miles but always serviced at John Kennedy Ford this car has been
kept in a heated garage. A no issues, original paint, never in the
snow, an honest car that is a pleasure to drive and you'll be proud
to own.
Exterior
Ivory Metallic coats the exterior steel panels that are straight
and mind their gaps throughout. In front, a new for 1998, ovalesque
vertical polished vertical striped grille is flanked by aerodynamic
built-in headlights, parking lights and turn signals. Badging is
correct and clean on the grille. Following a long hood back to a
large 4 door passenger compartment, chrome door handles, and
surrounds are seen on the doors and below is a wraparound thin
chrome beltline spear. The rear quarter panels have "Cartier"
badging in gold. A spacious trunk and rounded integrated
taillights, and a body matching wrap around bumper complete the
exterior. Standard spoked Lincoln badged aluminum wheels are all
around and wear almost new blackwall rubber.
Interior
Up front an analog central dash with outboard green LED readout
form for the odometer, compass and other important information.
This sits within a burl wood frame and is surrounded by stitched
Ivory leather padding. Conveniences such as climate control, an
AM/FM/CD player, cruise control, power seat adjustments, power
windows, power mirrors, and power door locks are noted. A large
split bench made up of two spacious buckets with built in armrests
stretch across the front, and a large comfortable spacious
luxurious bench across the back. These are all covered in plentiful
and firm foam and wrapped in Ivory leather. Taupe carpet floods the
floor and is in good unstained condition, and the headliner is
stretched tight, and is very clean.
Drivetrain
A 4.6 Liter SOHC Fuel Injected V8 sits within a clean engine bay
and shows well with little to no corrosion. It is connected to a
4-speed automatic 4R70W transmission, which shifts smoothly and
effortlessly. On the back, putting the power to the pavement is a
venerable Ford 8.8" rear axle with 3.08 gears inside.
Undercarriage
Presenting structurally sound and clean, this undercarriage shows
some surface rust only on uncoated steel surfaces. Floor pans,
rockers, toe kicks and frame are all totally rust free. Under door
framing is near perfect. Providing the cloudlike ride is
independent coil spring front suspension and a 4-link with air bag
suspension on the rear. 4-wheel power disc brakes are also
noted.
Nicely presenting, clean, tasteful colored, Lincoln. If you are
looking for the classic ride from the '90's like your grandfather
loved, then you need to come into the halls of Classic Auto Mall
and have a look at this cream puff. Well maintained with service
records going back to day 1 and garage kept, it led a good life,
and has plenty left in her.
