The 1962 Chevrolet Impala is one of the most iconic cruisers
around. So when you're looking for the best driver's classic,
you'll love to find one that's a fully upgraded example that
includes a custom interior, a great suspension, an overdrive
transmission, a ZZ4 performance V8, and more.
This one has the right mix of iconic hardtop lines with a modern
and sporty stance on 18-inch wheels. So you just know this was the
kind of car that was meant to be comfortable to drive anywhere and
be memorable everywhere. It has a feeling of respected quality with
details like good glass, straight body panels, detailed SS trim,
and doors that shut with confidence. The paint and trim are part of
an older restoration. Those looking for a World of Wheels contender
will likely make some added investments to the finish. But what
most of us really see is the right mix of a good gloss that gets
serious respect at the stoplights on a car that doesn't make us too
nervous to drive on the streets.
A red interior is always terrific against the black exterior. The
carpeting, door panels, and dash show off more of this solid
investment. And the seats and door panels are detailed, right down
to the classic button-top setup. Plus, some nice comfort features
are stealthily integrated. This includes the retro-style AM/FM
stereo with Bluetooth. While the driver side front window has a
manual crank, the other 3 are power. And there are even provisions
for R134a air conditioning (it will need servicing to blow cold)
again.) Just like the exterior, this was clearly set up for relaxed
enjoyment, and that also means more driver info with the auxiliary
gauge trio and tach on the steering column.
Under the hood is a 350 cubic-inch ZZ4 performance crate motor. It
has great performance features like a Holley four-barrel carburetor
and aluminum heads. And there are also good all-around driving
features, like the aluminum radiator and large electric fan. And
this one is great for all-around driving thanks to an upgrade to a
700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly
overdrive. As you look underneath, you can see fresher suspension
components that have been added in the last few years, including
tubular front A-arms and CPP adjustable coilovers. Add this to
power steering, power brakes, front discs, and the grip of modern
sport tires, and this is the classic that's easy to enjoy.
Complete with the owner's manual and build receipts, this is the
iconic coupe that loves to get you noticed out on the road. Call
