REPORTFRESHLY SERVICED, DETAILED & READY TO COLLECT Replacing the
Boss 302 and Boss 429 at one stroke for 1971, the Boss 351 Mustang
featured low, wide, and aggressive new flatback body styling
predicted by Fords Mustang Mach 1 show car of the late 1960s. The
new Boss included more of everything that made its predecessors
great, including outstanding handling and excellent performance
from its new solid-lifter 351 CI Cleveland based engine with 330
factory-rated horsepower. Only one transmission was available Fords
renowned Toploader 4-speed manual unit. Drivability was markedly
improved over that of the peakier, smaller-displacement 1970 Boss
302 and Boss 351 performance was awesome, rivalling competing
big-block cars with 0-60 mph acceleration times under 6.0 seconds
and the quarter mile under 14 seconds. Magazine road testers
unanimously praised the new Boss, especially its outstanding
all-around performance. In addition to its racy looks and stellar
performance, the 1971 Mustang was the last to carry the provocative
Boss name until 2010. Just 1,806 examples of the Boss 351 were
produced in all for 1971 and as few as 630 are estimated remaining
in existence per the Boss 351 Registry. This all-original survivor
is an outstanding collector find with under 24k miles that retains
its original Red paint finish and very well preserved, all-original
interior. While already rare, this Boss 351 features the top
optional 3.91:1 Traction-Lok rear end, which instigated the rare
Drag Pack option package. Other features and options include Fords
virtually bulletproof Toploader 4-speed manual transmission, Hurst
shifter, AM radio, console, power brakes and power steering.
Original and unmodified, this collector-grade Boss 351 is
documented by a framed Marti Report confirming original data.
Accompanying items include a space-saver spare wheel/tire, car
cover and miscellaneous spare parts. While the Boss 351 is indeed
very rare today, this exceptionally original and well preserved
24k-mile example is even more so. With its all-out specifications,
this Drag Pack-equipped Boss 351 is one of the finest and final
products of Ford Motor Companys all-out Total Performance campaign
that dominated virtually everywhere the company chose to compete.
