Vehicle Description
1965 Harley Davidson FLH
The 1965 Harley-Davidson FL Electra-Glide motorcycle was the last
Harley fitted with the venerable Panhead engine and the first big
Harley with electric start. That combo has made it a highly coveted
collectible. For Harley-Davidson, 1965 marked the end of an era.
The Electra-Glide, with its electric starter, made its debut, but
it would be the last year for the famous "Panhead" V-twin that was
introduced in 1948. That engine had received some modifications
over the years, a significant one coming in 1963 with external oil
lines that improved lubrication to the cylinder heads.
For consignment, a collectible Harley due to it being the last year
for the present since 1948 Panhead V twin. This bike, with its
beautiful standing still and continually in motion design has great
paint and all the chrome trimmings the went with the trappings of
these street cruisers.
Our fine example sitting before you is from 1965 and was restored 9
years ago, and since that time has only a mere 160 miles put on her
since. She's a true classic bathed in blue paint with white
accenting and a lot of chrome trimmings. What hard plastic
saddlebags are mounted on the back with chromed framing. In between
is a small rack then to the comfy bicycle overstuffed saddle seat
in black leather, which cozies up to the big tank in the center.
This has a speedometer bezel in it and in front we see the
handlebars triple headlights, beautiful front fender and polished
fork front suspension. Between the white saddle bags is a
curvaceous blue painted fender which frames the rear wire spoked
wheel with a whitewall tire.
For the power plant, a 74ci V-Twin Panhead topped with a 1-barrel
carburetor and a 4-speed manual transmission on back and plenty of
polishing for all the bolt ons. A nice rebuild with meticulous
attention to detail on all surfaces of the engine.
A very nice restored example with all the correct trimmings,
badging extra chromed protectors at all the edges, and the shiny
engine rumbling between your legs as you scream down the road on
this vintage collectible bike.
