Vehicle Description
1964 Ford F100 Fleetside Pickup
Patina: Noun; a green or brown film on the surface of bronze or
similar metals, produced by oxidation over a long period, "many
bronzes have been over cleaned, their original patina removed and
artificially replaced" -a gloss or sheen on a surface resulting
from age or polishing, "the dining table will acquire a warm patina
with age" -the impression or appearance of something," he carries
the patina of old money and good breeding.
For consignment, a rat ride if you will in the form of a highly
patina 1964 Ford F100 Pickup. Badged with a 147 Garage Thornburg,
PA on it'd doors this is the right idea for this pickup, put your
business name on it and go see clients, visit job sites or just
have it hanging around, and you have a promo piece! And throw in a
302ci V8 with a C4 3-speed automatic and you can roll around
maintenance free!
Exterior
What was once Pagoda Green now has been left to gracefully age,
patina, and fade to the point it is at now. As far as I can tell
this aging has not been clear coated or lacquered over so it will
continue and maybe eventually become problematic, so throw a
coating of clear coat on it and it will stay in this state of
condition. I would best describe that condition as fair for the
exterior, and bed. Lots of scratching and wear on the inside of the
bed and a couple areas of holes have formed at mid bed. Invasive
rust has taken over the bed near the front, and it has migrated to
the inside. Near the fenders and rockers there is some rust, but it
is only on the surface. Also seen with this is drip water streaks
on the paint. Badging is still on as are the trim spears and white
painted front grille courtesy of a Mercury pickup truck. Below the
grille is invasive rust that has been repaired with chicken wire,
which continues across the driver's side. A white painted tube
bumper is below the grille. Chromed side view mirrors are fastened
with rusty screws and present with some wear on the chrome plating.
The cab has been resprayed white and appears to have no rust.
Wheels are chrome 5 spoke Cragar SS wheels wrapped in blackball
rubber. A side view reveals this truck has been lowered just a
bit.
Interior
Somewhat unexpected based on the exterior but interior has mohair
inserts in brown surrounded by a rodded off chrome trimming
delineating the mohair from the tan painted metal door panel. The
armrest is framed in wood and has a well-worn off brown vinyl
armrest and power window toggles. Inside the bench has been
replaced by late model high back broadcloth buckets. These have a
darker and lighter pattern broadcloth insert and tan bolsters. A
custom fabricated center console has brown carpeting on the hump
portion where the Mustang short shift lever is installed. Another
custom fabricated panel is shaped to form the hump part, then
widens as it reaches for the dash. This has a lighter tan mohair
looking broadcloth and houses the A/C and vents wiper delay switch,
a trio of gauges, a CB radio and a few toggles. The original dash
is present and is tan metal and has a horizontal ribbed aluminum
gauge cluster sporting another trio of larger round gauges and
pulls and knobs below. A nifty "Custom Cab" the script is engraved
into the lower dash and bleeds 1960's style. Fronting the dash is a
wood rimmed Grant rally steering wheel. The headliner and vertical
interior panel coverings are more of the mohair looking
broadcloth.
Drivetrain
Within the patina engine bay now sits a 302ci V8 topped with a
single 4-barrel carb and it has a C4 3-speed automatic on back. A
10-bolt rear axle is on. Looking much newer than the rest of this
truck and it runs smoothly.
Undercarriage
Lots of surface rust and patina mixed in road dirt shows
underneath. The underside of the metal bed near the tailgate is
showing invasive rust. Also, on the passenger's lower bed on the
exterior and interior it is encroaching fast. Also, the bottom of
the radiator is looking in trouble as well, but it is not leaking.
Power disc brakes upfront with independent coil spring suspension,
and Power drum brakes are on back with leaf springs as the
suspension. A glass pack style exhaust is now installed.
Drive-Ability
She fires right up and off to the test track where performance was
unexpectedly very strong, good handling and boas free heavy
braking. It was a comfy ride in the newer buckets and the AC was in
op.
A rat ride soon to be gone, unless it gets a quick coating of clear
coating. It definitely has a bad ass look, and for those who like
that this one takes it right up the edge. So, it is an edgy finish,
and has a nice 302ci V8 and interior.
