Vehicle Description
This 1968 Cadillac Eldorado has a big V8, hidden headlights, a
spacious cabin, and darning angular styling. And what was once the
top luxury vehicle for the 1960s is now a vintage cruiser with all
the right flair. So when this distinct Caddy is also so affordable,
it's time to take notice.
The design lines of this generation Eldorado are ones of legend.
It's a true statement of personal luxury with flowing details. The
extra-long hood starts with a sharp middle point and begins a
crease line that runs uninterrupted into the doors. And the same
line emphasizes the sporty kick-up on the rear quarter panels. And
the super-sleek rear end was there to let you know that any hint of
tailfin would only be space-age cool. Also, while you're checking
out the rear, take a look at the bumper. That chrome king is
integrated into the design better than you can even get on a modern
Cadillac. And if it's brightwork you like, the front bumper shines
just as brilliantly. This really has the best of the 1960s
everywhere from the hidden headlights (a two-year only feature) to
the black vinyl roof. But the appeal here is more than just
vintage. The Orange Metallic paint is a more modern respray that
likes to glow in the sunshine. And everything from the painted
Cadillac scripts to the later 17-inch alloys gives this a cool
sense of custom/modern style.
The interior reminds you of what made these Cadillacs so special.
It's a pillarless hardtop coupe with plenty of room for everyone to
go for a ride. And the upholstery looks particularly nice with the
button-top presentation and the houndstooth cloth stylishly
breaking up the full dark atmosphere. Many of the original pieces
are still here for display, like the AM/FM radio, power locks, and
air conditioning (they will just need servicing to work again.)
Plus, there are some features you'll love that you don't get on
other classics, like the power windows and cruise control. You sit
behind the original Caddy three-spoke steering wheel and gaze at a
clear gauge package. And all the controls are centered around you
because this is built to be a personal luxury machine. There's even
a fold-down front seat armrest for a bucket-like level of
individuality. But on those days when you want to share the comfort
with family and friends, the flat floor of the Eldorado means it
really does offer relaxed seating for up to six total.
The 472 cubic-inch motor fills the engine bay. There is an honest
style and this V8 keeps its original spirit right down to the
Rochester four-barrel carburetor. It's a torque-filled powerhouse
built before emissions regulations had robbed Detroit of muscle,
and that makes it easy to tune for some proper power. The unique
front-wheel-drive setup puts the motor's weight over the driving
wheels, and it also allows for that flat floor inside. So it makes
for a solid driver. This coupe's cruising attitude is heightened by
a smooth-shifting three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, and power brakes with front discs.
A true classic with the right colors and plenty of luxury. This is
a great Caddy at a value price. So you know a deal like this will
