This 1988 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA is a true ultimate American
classic. After all, it's not only rare, but it also has everything
you want, like a loaded A/C interior and vibrant red paint. But
what really makes this one exertional is that they took a
low-mileage survivor and turned it into a serious speed machine
with a new LS3 motor under the hood!
Flame Red was pretty much the color that defined these GTA cars.
After all, it gives you the boldness or a cherry-like hue, but in a
deeper and more sophisticated tone. So it's especially nice to find
an example that is both original and quite slick. This car was
under long-term first-owner care where the low odometer reflects
the full mileage. And only in the last few years were there
thousands $$$$$ invested in upgrading the performance (more on that
in a minute.) But first, take a moment to appreciate the difference
you can see in a cherished coupe. The Flame Red also does a great
job of bringing out the added style of the golden touches on the
GTA badging and hallmark cross-lace alloy wheels. The total package
really does have a terrific performance look with the full body
kit, vented hood, and well-integrated rear spoiler.
The tan interior goes with the golden exterior accents for a
tasteful total package inside and out. And because this is such a
low-mileage and preserved machine, you really have a time capsule
feel inside. After all, this was the top-of-the-line car for
Pontiac, and so it comes loaded with even features like power
windows, power locks, power steering, remote trunk opener, and
power mirrors. The factory air conditioning was upgraded to modern
R134a to blow nice and cold. The driver gets a sports steering
wheel on a tilt column. The buttons for your premium AM/FM/cassette
stereo in the horn ring was a true premium option for a 1980s car,
and now it makes for a retro-cool look on this survivor-style
interior. And the full round gauge package makes for a great
driver's car, especially when you see what's under the hood...
The GTA was fast for its time, but we've had over 30 years of
evolution. So this one rectifies it with an awesome LS3 crate motor
rated at 480 horsepower right out of the box. This was not just a
new motor swap. We have about $18k in receipts detailing a
professional installation that happened around 600 miles ago. This
includes the right wiring harnesses, sensors, pedals, a full dual
exhaust, and an upgrade to a GearStar Level 3 4L65E four-speed
automatic transmission. The result is a powerful car that also can
be an easy overdrive cruiser. This really brings the GTA into the
modern age. Plus, the coupe's calling card was its handling. The
GTA was the king of the streets because it received the WS6
suspension as standard. This includes sway bars front & rear,
special shock absorbers, performance coil springs, and a
limited-slip rear end. Add in four-wheel power disc brakes and BF
Goodrich gForce Sport tires, and you know this upgraded classic
knows how to still rule the streets.
The sale comes complete with build receipts, service manuals, and a
car cover. This is the iconic GTA that's vintage where you want it
and seriously upgraded in all the right places. Don't let this
unique coupe slip away. Call today!!!
