1983 Toyota SR5 4WD Long Bed
This may not be a one of a kind but it is certainly one of a few! 86,500 original miles. I bought this truck from a friend of mine last year. He was the second owner, a professional engineer and he took amazing care of it over the 36 years he owned the truck. The tires are only the second set. This truck was driven very lightly for the past 20 or 25 years.
As you can see, I have the original owners manual with the original owner listed. The truck went from Illinois to Alaska to Oregon to Montana. The former owner kept it maintained regularly and drove it the last twenty years only enough to give it good exercise. I have the grease guns and many maintenance records that document much of the service and the miles when serviced. This is the real deal.
This is the perfect truck to restore and bring back to its original beauty. There are no mechanical issues that I am aware of and I have been driving the truck every few weeks. The looks and comments and thumbs up you get are testimony to the way these trucks have stood the test of time. This truck runs great and is as solid as when it rolled off the lot.
I have not detailed or waxed the truck so what you see is exactly as it is and I have photo documented all aspects and all flaws to the best of my knowledge. You can see the dash has the typical cracks you see in trucks of this era. The paint is faded and there are a few spots where the paint is bubbling on the bed. There is a corner rear bumper repair as shown in the photos. The battery tie down is rusted at the base and needs to be reworked. It had minor body repairs and a new bed installed about ten years ago. At that time, the bed was replaced with a yellow bed that was then repainted in the original blue. (I have photo documentation of all body work details available to serious buyers). The topper is 1983 vintage with original receipt. No accidents.
This is a rare find, a clean 1983 long bed example in 4WD. I know there are other ones out there hidden in a barn or garage but they seem to be fewer and fewer and in greater demand. This truck is a blast to drive and it’s worth the looks and thumbs up that you get from those who appreciate the early Toyota trucks. Recent sales of these trucks restored have been in the 50k range. It won’t take a lot to bring this one back to original condition.
I am letting this one go with some regret and seeking a new owner who will continue its great care. This one is a gem and will be a wonderful restoration project.
