This is an award winning restoration of a 1940 Ford pickup truck. It has been fully restored as close to factory condition as possible. Two trucks were used to build this one and the project took a year and a half. During that time, all rust was removed and the vehicle body and frame were primed and painted. Some areas also required sheet metal and extra wielding. Most all of the chrome was redone to capture a beautiful high gloss shine.
Every effort was made to restore this classic with original parts, however, some items could not be obtained. The side mirrors, cabin floor, and wooden truck bed were replaced with factory replicas. The brakes were upgraded to provide separate brake fluid to the front and rear. The original very small hydraulic shocks could not be found so newer shocks were used. The engine is a fully rebuilt 1950 Mercury Flathead with less than 200 miles of use. An electric fan with a temperature sensor was installed to help cooling the V8 flathead, which can continue to run after shutdown if necessary. The transmission is a manual three speed on the floor. The instrument cluster is a beautifully restored original, however, the speedometer, fuel gauge, and battery gauges are not operational. The oil and water temperature gauges function well.
This an amazing truck in excellent condition. The Michigan car shows this vehicle was entered into brought home trophies. The total price in parts receipts are over twice my asking price and I have always kept the truck covered in an enclosed garage. It’s only been driven on short trips in great weather during spring/summer days. The truck is always covered and stored inside during late fall and all winter. I hate to sell this dream truck, but it is time for me to move on to my next project.
