2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
Seven-hundred and seven horsepower is about as close as it gets to
the output of NASA's Challenger. The figure makes this Challenger
more powerful than all but six cars currently on the market: (in
2015) the Bugatti Veyron-now available only in 1200-hp guise-the
950-hp Ferrari LaFerrari, the 903-hp McLaren P1, the 887-hp Porsche
918 Spyder, the 730-hp Ferrari F12, and the 720-hp Pagani Huayra.
And, given the limited production numbers of those cars, any
Challenger Hellcat will be more powerful than just about 10 cars
total in the United States. Of the six factory offerings that are
more powerful, just two cost less than a million bucks and only the
roughly $330,000 F12 costs less than $800,000.
For consignment, a powerful Hellcat that screams badass with its
throaty exhaust it puts out when the throttle is even mildly
pushed. A mere 15,368 miles, and all original save for the warranty
new radiator replacement. Laguna leather seats, 8-speed automatic,
(what could go wrong?!), premium audio, and of course 707hp. A real
neck snapper and eye catcher with its retro design right out of the
muscle car sweet spot of the early 1970's ahhhhhhhh!
All menacing Pitch Black right down to its chin spoiler, grille and
scooped hood and even dark tinted windows. Body lines reminisce
about the Challengers of yore but yet have a modern aero twist. HID
headlights are about the only thing on this car that sticks out as
obvious, the rest is pure stealth. On back is a spoiler and large
rear dual exhaust existing below the neoprene rear integrated
bumper. 20-inch black powder coated wheels are what this machine
rides on and you'll need all 20 inches of that rubber with that
Black Laguna leather covers most surfaces and it's all looking
famous. Expertly molded and curved door panels sport some stitched
leather, molded storage and a Harmon Kardon speaker mount on the
door. Inside power black leather high back buckets with extra
supporting bolsters and red seat belts are in front, and a 2 plus 2
bucket bench in the back. In the center is a console which uses
molded black plastic and some satin finished faux aluminum for the
top part. It is newly angled towards the driver and gives the
illusion that it is not straight between the seats but breathes
easily; it's just the offset adding to this illusion. A futuristic
spaceship styled dash has more stainless faux aluminum edging and
red faced instrumentation oil front of the SRT steering wheel
leather covered and rally style. A navi screen is in and sports 7
inches of technology interface offering up Bluetooth, voice
activation, and a backup camera to go along for the ride. Auto
stick with paddle shifters is in along with the Harmon Kardon
stereo, heated seats, keyless entry and start and a whole host of
conveniences that are found in this extra high performance Muscle
Very impressive to say the least, here we see more menacing power
in the form of a Supercharged EFI fed 6.2 liter V8 Hemi. It has an
8-speed automatic which also can be paddle shifted, a very modern
Torqueflite. A 2.62 anti-spin rear axle moves the car forward by
spinning the tires.
All like new and rust free showing off with SRT tuned Bilstein 3
mode active suspension, all speed traction control, and electronic
stability control. Independent suspension is all around as is power
disc braking courtesy of Brembo.
A beautiful creation as I slipped in I had a smile on my face
because I had an idea of what I was in for. I'm not the kind of
spin the tires guy, just more high-speed performance. And on the
test track this car gave it it's all. Major acceleration, rail like
handling in different modes and all functioning conveniences and
mode buttons on this car.
Oh go ahead go for it. At a fraction of the price of some of the
exotics, and has the power to match them, although they are way
ahead in the handling department, but they cost up to 8 times as
much, so how much fun is that?
