Vehicle Description
1963 Chevrolet Impala SS
This 63 Impala SS is one very classy, West Coast style restomod.
This Impala has all straight rust-free steel panels, beautiful
chrome, Chip Foose wheels and low-profile tires. It also has an
award-winning interior which is nearly perfect.
Exterior
It's easy to be ice-grillin on this fly resto-mod 63 Bowtie SS.
Bathed in Adobe Beige with Crystal Pearl paint, it's a must see
color and all chrome and trim are show quality. Grille, bumper with
extra bar with little dagmars, front quarter trimmings, solid
spears, rocker stainless and even around the gas filler lid there's
beautiful chrome. Gaps are near perfect and certainly no rust is
seen. Window trimmings are framing new glass. Dual antennae add to
the ultra-cool ambiance and as with all Impalas the triple ice
cream cone shaped taillights are within a beautifully polished
piece of aluminum trim which extends across the entire rear pod
this car just below the trunkline. 18-inch polished Foose wheels
are wrapped by low profile 235/50R18's on all 4 corners.
Interior
Award winning from the swing of the doors, where you'll find years
of saddle leather stitched into rectangles and sporting a chromed
button at the corners. Shiny cranks and the leather covered armrest
are here too and on the armrest's end is the paddle actuator.
Inside more yards of saddle leather covering wide low back buckets
up format and a big long bench in the back. These chairs all use
tuck and roll inserts, more horizontal stitched panels for the
upper backs complete with buttons. A custom-made center console
races through the buckets, and is leather covered with buttons on
the armrest and sides. The remainder is white paneled inserts which
houses a Hurst shifter, stainless steel cup holder, 2 aftermarket
gauges and a crossed flag badge. This rises to the original dash
where a curved two-tier design has the speedo and some other gauges
and warning lights within the top floor, and on the shelf, painted
in bronze is an original tachometer in the center of the billet
style steering wheel rally style all the way. The ignition knobs
and pulls are all shiny and within a horizontal swirl pattern
aluminum strip. Clean saddle carpeting floods the floors, and a
beautiful square pattern two tone headliner floats above. A shout
out to the trunk which is also carpeted to perfection and has
leather stitched buttoned panels on the sides.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 350ci V8 engine, (circa 1977), and it shines
like a crazy diamond with all its chrome add ons. This is
originally a 327ci car and that original engine goes with the sale
of this car. It has a single 4-barrel carburetor, and a 4-speed
manual transmission on back. Shiny valve coverings, yellow spark
wires and all else chromed, while it maintains its perfectly
painted GM orange/red block and uses ribbed stainless tubes
throughout. Even the fan guard has been chromed. Also, within the
structure of the hood some mirrors have been added so the engine
can primp itself before being shown. Freakin sweet for sure for
this engine eye candy.
Undercarriage
Independent coil springs for the front and a 4 link with coil
springs for the rear and power disc front and power drum rear
braking all looking like new right down to the FlowMaster
exhaust.
Drive-Ability
One of the few cars when you get in and not only IS it definitely
cool, but it makes the driver look that way as well!! Magical. As
was the operation of this car with great acceleration, smooth bias
free panic stopping, and good handling.
A real looker taking advantage of that early 60's styling along
with a more modern twist. It has Best interior from Motorama for
the last 5 years, Top Driver and Interior @ East Coast Nationals,
and the Reading Super Chevy where it owns First place. An awesome
build.
