Vehicle Description
1970 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
If you love old Chevy and GMC trucks it might be because you have
memories from when you were a kid riding in one of those early
models. Or you might just love the classic lines and the way they
look. The C series is a line of GM 2-wheel drive trucks, while the
K series is a line of GM 4-wheel drive trucks. Beginning in 1960,
trucks of this generation were named as 10, 20, and 30 series to
represent the 1/2, 3/4, and 1-ton versions of GM's light truck
line. Introduced for the 1960 model year, the C/K series was
marketed by Chevrolet until 2002 in the United States (GMC marketed
the series from 1960 to 1987).
For consignment, originally purchased for a family construction
business and in that very same family since bought we give you a
true workhorse in the form of a 1970 C10 pickup truck. 5 years ago,
it went up for an estate sale and our consignor purchased it and
proceeded to give it the full once over. It has been garage kept
since that restoration and now offered up to another business owner
or just someone who wants to hack around in a classic C10 as these
never really go out of style.
Exterior
Light green metallic sandwiches a white mid-section on the straight
steel panels of this truck. Paint is good and just some slight rust
on the rocker mostly behind the rear wheel wells. The cab roof is
painted white, and also on those side panels as a delineation
marker, a stainless and black painted trimming runs the length of
the truck. On the bottom of the white is more stainless with dual
thin black stripes bordering a wood grain applique. Gaps are nicely
minded throughout, and the grille up front is looking spiffy. The
bumpers are hanging in there as well and looking in good condition
with just a bot of dulling in some areas, but no rust. Just behind
the cab is the bed which has newly installed pine boards with the
metallic green as mounting strips in between the wood. Bed sides
and tailgate are excellent with no scratches for dings. On the very
back is more green and white with the trimmings running across them
to match the sides. Polished bolted on wheel coverings are on all 4
corners and all wrapped with Uniroyal raised white letter Laredo
tires.
Interior
A swing of the doors and we see Sheridan style embossing on a
mid-door black vinyl panel which houses the actuators and cranks.
On its upper edge is a strip of accenting wood applique and then
some metallic green painted metal sills. Inside your eyes are
bowled over by some turquoise accents in the form of a vinyl bench
with more Sheridan style embossed inserts and a stitched faux tuck
and roll center and smooth bolsters. The driver's side is showing
some cracking and wear in the edges. Also, the steering wheel is
turquoise and it fronts the original dash which is metallic green
and has a black textured instrument panel in front of the wheel.
The turquoise continues with the dash top and the headliner as well
as the carpets which are somewhat soiled and show a bit of faded
spotting but still fairly good condition.
Drivetrain
Upfront under the hood is the original GM 307ci V8 in its orange
red painted glory. The engine bay is clean and no rust with supple
wiring and hoses. This mill is topped with a 2-barrel carburetor
and has the original 3 speed manual transmission making this truck
a three on the tree. Looking clean and original under here.
Undercarriage
Some heavier surface rust is seen throughout, but the frame remains
structurally sound. Body hangers are rust free as are fender
undersides and rockers. No invasive rust anywhere to be seen, and
noted the engine shows some oiling on the bottom end. Independent
coil springs are upfront and a 3 link with coil springs are on
back. Drum brakes are on all 4 corners, and a new muffler and
tailpipe with a side exit is seen. New hardware is on with all the
underside bed mounting.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter and it ran just great on the test track. Solid
braking, and handling like a truck! All functions were working
during my drive.
Imagine "your name here" on the sides of this classic as you roll
up to a job site to check on your minions. A classic C10, new
paint, clean engine, snazzy interior and definitely a worker bee,
or is a C, yeah C10!
