This 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente lives up to its name with some
extra hot V8 power under the hood and the control of a five-speed.
It's a full package that gives you a stylish hardtop look, the
right driver-friendly upgrades, and a uniqueness that makes it
irresistible.
The '65 Comet was redesigned for some serious style. The front end
has stacked headlights with an aggressive forward-leaning look. The
rear got a stylish full-width tail light streak. And while other
companies would use a trim package to get some full-length
aggressive lines in the profile, Mercury stamped them right into
the sheet metal! You can see it all so well on this example because
you can see they took extra time and care in getting the lines to
look so crisp and clean. Mercury coupes are for the more elite, and
this one shows that off well with attractive black paint, bright
chrome bumpers, complete trim, and even a black vinyl top.
But you can also tell they built this to be a true performer. The
large dual exhaust tips, weld-style Cragar wheels, and an
aggressive stance with the traction bars visible in the rear are
all about giving this Caliente the feeling of a hot street
machine.
The interior is a thoughtful mix of exactly what you want. For
example, it's an upgraded set up with an attractive custom
appearance. The burgundy on the seats coordinates with the comfy
tweed inserts. There are even nice details like the matching door
panels and Caliente script on the seatbacks. And speaking of
details, you have some great vintage elements, including the
wood-like trim and working courtesy lights. Plus, this was made to
be a better driver's classic. That's why you have bucket seats in
front with an armrest center console in-between. There's also a
wood-rimmed sports steering wheel, sports shifter, SunPro auxiliary
readouts, and a large column-mounted tach.
You'll understand this Mercury's added sporty style the moment you
look under the hood. The tidy engine bay has Ford's 289 cubic-inch
V8, and we know these are hardy and love upgrades. So this one has
a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer intake,
polished Ford Motorsport valve covers, and headers feeding into the
dual exhaust. There's even an aluminum radiator to help keep this
Caliente's full setup running cool. It's a nice power package, and
you take full control over it with a five-speed manual transmission
upgrade. As you look underneath the car, you'll spot newer front
suspension components and a better look at the Lakewood traction
bars in the rear. Plus, power steering, front disc brakes, and wide
BF Goodrich T/As make for a solid all-around driver.
This Comet Caliente has the look and the features you love to make
one red-hot deal, so you know you don't want to miss out. Call
