Vehicle Description
1967 Chevrolet Chevy II
Chevy management finally decided on "Chevy II," because it started
with a "C"-really. That's why the other name they liked didn't win
the day-however, they decided to keep it for the top trim line for
the Chevy II Series. That name was "Nova." In other words, anyone
who owned a Nova actually owned a Chevy II.
For consignment, a Chevy II from 1968. This one is fortunate to
have a larger consignor-stated 383ci V8 stroker, with some extras,
has a nice vinyl top, and beautiful blue interior. All looking
great and ready to chew up some competition, Chevy II style!
Exterior
As we breathe in this just past mind 1960's model, we smell nicely
preserved chrome and stainless, no rust and all well minded gaps,
all bathed in smooth white paint. A single headlight rests under
the swept back fender visor on either side and these flank a nice
egg crate grille, complete with the Chevy II badge in the drivers
grille corner. A wonderfully shiny chromed bumper is below and
hoses the horizontal turn signals. The headlights are more modern
LED style. As we follow the trim which runs the gamut of the sides
a single door with perfectly chromed handle is on along with a
chromed gas filler cap and more nice badging on the back of the
rear quarters. On the bottoms are a wide stainless rocker trimming.
Above is a nicely preserved black vinyl top covering and this shows
off the shiny stainless window trimmings. The rear glass gently
lowers to the trunk deck which offers up plenty of storage space
and index on the rear with vertical taillights in each corner, and
a shiny chromed bumper below. 15 inch highly polished Billet
Specialties wheels are wrapped in 195/60R15's in front and larger
235/60R15's on back. This deuce looks white hot.
Interior
A swing of the doors and it's looking very clean and...blue! Dark
and light blue play together with vinyl panels that are delineated
by some chrome trimmings and highlighted with shiny cranks and
actuator, as well as a turn knob lock. Uppers are blue painted
steel and all excellent on these swingers. Inside we see more 1967
styling with light blue broken checked pattern broadcloth inserts
featuring dark blue stripes, most thin but wide ones in the seat
centers. Bolsters are smooth blue vinyl, and these are split back
in front, and a solid bench in back all looking excellent. Upfront
is the angled in dash with aluminum on the dash front and padded
blue vinyl on top. Gauges are all pristine and looking original
within the dash, and a retro style radio is neatly inserted in the
center, with the temp sliders below. A trio of aftermarket gauges
hangs just below and looking just a bit to your right you stumble
upon a B&M shifter. Next to that is an aftermarket tach with
shift light begging for your attention. This all hovers above very
clean and like now blue thick pile loop carpeting. Above is a tight
light blue headliner in vinyl and I venture to say this interior is
looking just swimmingly showroom clean!
Drivetrain
Under the hood is also looking good. It is all consignor stated as
we have no verification. Now showing with a 383 stroker V8 which
the consigner states puts out 425hp. It sports aftermarket aluminum
heads and has a 4-barrel Holley carb sitting atop an Edelbrock
intake. A nice round air cleaner is protecting the opening and
shiny valve coverings are now on each side. MSD ignition can be
noted, and headers are attached for the easy exhale. Supple hoses
and no corrosion are seen in this beautifully restored engine bay.
On back is a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission which throws the
horses to the rear wheels via a Ford 9-inch 3.73 posi rear axle.
Suh-weet!
Undercarriage
Underneath is also looking very sweet with no rust, a new fuel
tank, tubular front A arms and solid frame. Independent coil sprung
front suspension and power disc brakes are on the front, and leaf
springs with traction bars are on back working with power drum
brakes. A nice shiny rust free Pypes exhaust takes the spent gasses
handoff from the headers and throws it rearward.
Drive-Ability
Our muscle car aficionado slipped inside this one before I even had
eyes on it, so I'll defer to his experience, with which he told me
he loved it!! Mentioning during this exchange was great
acceleration, nice handling and all functions working just great.
Bias free braking was experienced for the panic stop test.
All buttoned up and fully restored with more power than you'll ever
think you will need, this sporty upgraded engine and suspension
muscle car is ready to take on nearly anything of its year in
comparison, particularly a Ford!
