1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler , DragPak, 429 Super Cobra jet engine, numbers matching, factory oil cooler, 3.91 traction-lok rear, HURST 4 speed, Holley 780 cfm 4 barrel, dual exhaust FLOWMASTER 40 mufflers gives it an exceptional aggressive sound befitting a 429SCJ, the most powerful motor produced by FORD. Mercury's factory literature made clear that the nominal 370hp Cobra Jet package could be trumped by ordering a performance axle package, which yielded the 429 SUPER COBRA JET, upgraded with forged aluminum pistons, a solid-lifter camshaft with more aggressive profile (versus a hydraulic cam fitted into the lesser 429s), a 780-cfm Holley 4150-series carburetor, four-bolt main bearing caps (on the second, third, and fourth mains), and an external engine oil cooler, all yielding roughly 420 hp right from the factory floor. The 429SCJ stipulated the mandatory installation of a close-ratio four-speed manual that featured the pictured iconic HURST shifter. This is a Toploader design capable of enduring high torque and quick shifts. New clutch has perhaps 1000 miles on it. The interior features included Hi-Back Comfortweave bucket seats, Rim- Blow sports steering wheel, and the instrumentation group that provids the auxiliary gauge suite (four units within individual recessed pods in the center of the dash) , an upgraded speedometer to a 140-mph readout; and an 8,000 rpm tach, a full-length center console , and has the factory stock original an AM/FM stereo.
