Vehicle Description
This 1985 Chevrolet C10 Silverado pickup is the direct result of
someone taking a 'Square Body' pickup and turning it up to 11. With
a killer slammed stance, a strong-running 350 V8 crate motor, an
array of solid options, a comfortable A/C interior, and a sinister
black paint job, it's got a unique look that totally works and
turns heads everywhere it goes. Take a closer look, because this
dropped Chevy is a very cool truck that won't last long.
The builders of this truck threw all caution and subtlety in the
wind during the restoration, electing a wicked color and a slammed
stance to go along with all that added pop under the hood. With
that blacked-out finish, it's got a clean look that seems a lot
more customized than it actually is, and because the paint job was
done right when it was completed not long ago, it holds up under
scrutiny. It's smooth as can be after hours and hours of sanding
and polishing that thick, lustrous clearcoat, and depth of the
black underneath is very impressive. We're talking top
driver-quality stuff here, borderline show in the eyes of many.
Sure, it's not without its imperfections if you go hunting with a
microscope, but the finish looks a lot more higher-end that you'd
expect for a truck of this vintage that was built to be driven and
enjoyed. Despite the low, wide look, this C10 is mostly composed of
stock bodywork, although the blacked-out grille up front and the
de-badged tailgate out back do a great job to bookend the truck
with a little custom touch. All the trim is still in place, the
door handles haven't been shaved, the top's not chopped, and the
mirrors are still in place as well, resulting in a clean
near-factory look that makes the lowered stance and dialed-in paint
job look even more impressive. The factory grille is still place,
although the center strip and Bowtie were painted black to match
the body, and we have to admit we like the look, especially when
combined with the clear lights up front that add a cool modern
touch. Chrome bumpers fore and aft really pop against the black
paint and one look in the spray-in bedliner protected bed proves
that this truck never really had to work in its life.
The interior was nicely upgraded at the time of the build yet still
manages to still keep a stock-style vibe, with a supremely
comfortable cloth-and-vinyl bench seat that can surprisingly seat
three in a pinch thanks to the wide confines of the cabin. The seat
has been re-filled with new cushions that feel great, and the cover
is about as fresh and clean as you'll see, resulting in an all-day
comfortable seating area that puts long-range travel squarely on
the menu. There's a taut headliner above, plush black carpets
protected with matching floormats below, matching Silverado-spec
factory door panels that include controls the power windows and
locks, and the newer black dash pad is completely free of
imperfections. The factory gauges in the new aluminum bezel provide
an accurate reading of the engine's vitals, and the upgraded black
billet steering wheel at the helm of the cockpit features a
comfortable leather rim and is mounted atop a tilt column. There's
no radio, although that's easily remedied, and the factory A/C
system has been updated with new controls and hardware under the
hood. It's clean, tight, and ready to use.
Power comes from a rugged 350 V8 Goodwrench crate motor, which have
been a mainstay in Chevy build's for quite a while. Neatly
transplanted to retain OEM-style functionality, it almost looks
like it was born in there. The engine bay is detailed as if it were
a factory build, with a few bright accents on the air cleaner and
A/C system to tie it all together. With an Edelbrock 4-barrel
carburetor atop an Edelbrock aluminum intake and HEI ignition, it
starts quickly and runs beautifully and can be serviced at any
Chevy dealer with no issues at all. A 700R4 4-speed automatic
transmission was also transplanted, and with power steering and
power front disc brakes, it's a real pleasure to drive in almost
any condition. Thanks to the overdrive transmission, this is a nice
highway cruiser that gets surprisingly good gas mileage (fed from
the truck's dual fuel tanks) for a full-sized pickup. Underneath,
the chassis is very well preserved, with long-tube headers feeding
a dual exhaust with throaty mufflers that give it a fantastic
soundtrack. The was suspension lowered with upgraded hardware and
shocks to give it that aggressive stance, which really emphasizes
those flashy 20-inch Ridler chrome wheels wrapped in 245/45/20
front and 315/35/20 rear blackwall radials.
A supercool truck with a lot of time and effort invested in the
look and nothing done that would hurt reliability or the ability to
use it every day. And that's why we absolutely love this Square
Body Chevy. Call today!
