Vehicle Description
1977 PONTIAC Grand Prix SJ
Why This Car Is Special
The Grand Prix is a line of automobiles produced in its first
generation by the Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1962 to
2002 for coupes and 1989-2008.
This 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ we have here at Skyway Classics in
a great color combination of tan over tan, is a great example of
the car that neatly combined the same 403 cubic inch V8 found in
the Trans Am with the luxury features of a Buick, and wrapped it
all in some of the best Pontiac styling of the decade.
Mechanical
Ours has the powerful 403 cubic inch V-8 Engine that came standard
on the SJ backed by a three-speed Turbo Automatic Transmission. It
looks all original with the 4-barrel carburetor and runs like a
Trans Am.
The engine compartment looks factory stock with just routine
maintenance done to it. It still retains the factory air cleaner,
Pontiac blue painted engine block, valve covers and intake, factory
cast iron exhaust manifolds, air conditioning, power steering and
brakes, and all the other running gear.
The dual exhaust system has that muted muscular tone that suits the
Grand Prix just fine as it rides down the road on color-matched
Rally II wheels and wear fat Bridgestone Dueler XT raised white
letter performance tires.
Interior
Our Pontiac has a plus tan leather dual front bucket seat interior
with the matching rear seat, brown carpet and floor mats, great
matching door panels, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Power
Windows, Power Door Locks, Air Conditioning, factory console
housing the automatic shifter, Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control,
futuristic Pontiac dash the factory Rally Gauges, Factory AM/FM
8-Track, and the very rare Factory Power Sunroof.
Exterior
From the factory our Grand Prix Had a complete reworking of the
front header and bumper on the 1977 Grand Prix, the parking lamps
were now positioned between the quad headlamps, and the grille was
narrower and extended into the lower portion of the bumper.
Ours is painted in the factory tan with the paint showcasing the
handsome long nose/short deck profile, V-shaped grille, steeply
sloping rear window, all makes it look fast even sitting still.
Chrome was still a big feature in 1977, and the bumpers, trim, and
lenses all look great as does the Landau half-vinyl roof, body
colored Rally II Wheels (Including Matching Spare) and the hood
emblem.
Conclusion
This 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ we have here at Skyway Classics is
an original car with one repaint, 66,750 actual miles, and is
exceptionally clean, has a ton of originality with classic looks
and performance, and a killer combo of style, luxury, and
performance to gain the attention anywhere you cruise to.
